Wow, 241,434....we are making progress. We did sign up a lot of people in 98 however. Considering everything, that was a great year! I had just got on the internet then.
Night girls, from the newest member of "THE CLUB". :-)
It is because the 'big tent' has had space for those who value the RKBA, the lives of the unborn, the sanctity of marriage, smaller government, national security etc., that the GOP has been winning.
ALienate that part of the base, and the GOP will lose its margin against the moonbats.
Take the attitude of "Well, where else are you going to go?" and that arrogance will get you an answer--one the GOP will not like.
As for costing the GOP and the country, if the GOP morphs into the liberal party, nothing is lost which would not be lost anyway. As it is, we have just been going down the same dusty road, only slower.
Mike Pence is right, we need a change of direction.
When I hit forum under your name, a number comes up. When I hit mine, it doesn't though, it has in the past. When I hit no pardons it doesn't come up either. Strange.
Am I logged in?
Did you hit your name and then hit IN FORUM?
BTW, my first screenname wasn't Howlin; I was Stalker when I first got here.
McCain continues to deepen ties to Bush camp
EXCERPT
McCain will appear with former president George H.W. Bush at an event on the campus of Texas A&M University. The event will be held April 3 in College Station, Texas.
That comes on the heels of the hiring of two top Bush political advisers to McCain's political action committee; outreach to Bush campaign donors and supporters; and the Arizona Republican's defense of President George W. Bush from criticism over the Dubai Ports deal.
The Arizona Republican is popular with moderates, independents and the news media. He's also been trying to heal old wounds with GOP conservatives who question his commitment to party orthodoxy on issues such as tax cuts and social matters.

How I Work
John McCain
U.S. Senator (R-Arizona)
EXCERPT
You lose battles in politics. I do get good and angry. Really angry! By God, I'm not going to let them beat me again. I don't like to lose. After the 2000 race for the presidential nomination, I spent at least ten days -- and in many ways it was the most wonderful experience of my life -- wallowing in self-pity. It was really fun. Freeing.
Then I just woke up and said it was time to get over this. The people you represent don't want you this way. You're still their Senator. And besides, America doesn't like sore losers. I also don't hold grudges. It's a waste of time. What's the point? Frankly, the sweetest revenge is success.

I had been on AOL, you know, not the REAL internet........LOL. $19.95 for TEN HOURS!
He's got some MAJOR "issues," IMO. Anger is one of them.
I'm going to bed. Good night; great discussion, as usual.
Me also Howlin....it has been fun!
ahem...

I applaud your challenge to a man who has been on the Democrat side for some time. He is the most Bush-like Republican and therefore the neoCons will push the Manchurian Candidate over anyone else who opposes Hillary. They believe that the threat of a Hillary presidency will make us settle for more of the same while sidelining those corruption and ethics issues we've been grumbling about.
Hey, let's (just for the fun of it) get a real conservative to run and give him or her our full support!
Thanks for providing a context for Jim's post.
