Feinstein Calls Illegals Good 'Citizens', Lou Lets Loose
Today Show/NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

March 28, 2006

In all its cacophony and moments of absurdity, this morning's Today show segment on immigration was a supremely edifying example of the confusion, high emotion and complexity of the immigration debate. Matters reached their Alice-in-Wonderland apotheosis when Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California was shown in a Senate committee arguing that illegal immigrants are good . . . 'citizens.' Said Feinstein:

"They pay taxes, their children are Americans, they go to schools, they're good citizens and they're needed."

This was in line with the fait accompli argument advanced by La Raza representative Janet Murguia. She referred to what she estimated as the 11-12 million illegal aliens in the country as "people are working in backbreaking work that nobody else wants to do in this country. We need to . . . understand that they are already part of this country."

"We need to . . . understand that they are already part of this country."

Just like other criminals, they are part of this country.

Just like pedophiles, they are part of this country.

Just like al quaida, they are part of this country.

The politicians sure have dumped the labor vote.

Doing what Americans won't. That is the first temporary step. Once amnesty goes through, it will become an affirmative action issue. First you establish the underclass, then you exploit it.

Sorry, I don't agree. Don't know if you heard the clip but by her cadence it was clear, IMO, that everything she said was referring to the illegals.

Okay. I didn't hear the clip, only saw it in writing, so I'll defer to you.

Do you really think she meant to say, for example, that the children are needed but not the parents?

That's what I thought she literally said. It seemed an odd thing to say, but then I considered the source - she isn't known for being profound.

Further to my earlier reply: I think Feinstein might have meant "good citizens" in talking about the illegals in the sense of being good, decent people, without thinking of what the implications were of calling them citizens.

That's almost certainly what she meant, as she jammed her foot down her throat.

Dr Seuss was a Jewish American, Theodore Geisel of Springfield Massachusetts.

Arthur Szyk (also Jewish) was his superior in wartime propaganda

Anyone ever watch "America's Most Wanted"?

I'd guess maybe half the perps on that show are illegals. They never say so, of course, but the signs are there. They will mention if they are "believed to be a part of" the Mexican gangs, but they never broach the illegal part of that.

Just doing the gang-land killings, home invasions and car-jackings that americans won't. Flame away, I don't care.

If they possessed logic, science, engineering, their nations would not be shitholes.

It may surprise you to know that they do possess those things and their countries are shitholes anyway.

What's amazing to me is that these illegal-soon-to-be-citizens ABSOLUTELY HATE BUSH...

They are not alone. I am a Republican who voted for Bush twice, and right now I absolutely hate him too!

Here's the British cartoonist who drove Hitler to apoplexy

'Once a week Hitler had my cartoons brought out and laid on his desk in front of him, and he finished always with an explosion. That he was extremely sore; his vanity was badly touched. So the Foreign Secretary asked me to modify my criticism, as I say, in order that a better chance could be had for making friendly relations. The Foreign Secretary explained to me that I was a factor that was going against peace.' 'Do I understand you to say that you would find it easier to promote peace if my cartoons did not irritate the Nazi leaders personally?' 'Yes,' he replied. '.I said, "Well, I'm sorry." Of course he was the Foreign Secretary what else could I say? So I said, "Very well, I don't want to be responsible for a world war. But, I said "It's my duty as a journalist to report matters faithfully and in my own medium I have to speak the truth. And I think this man is awful. But I'll slow down a bit." So I did.'

Probably for the first time, a senior member of the British Government had found it necessary to personally put a cartoonist under pressure in order to tone down his work. Low must have seen this as a backhanded compliment, for even though it had been an attempt to restrain him, he was now aware that his cartoons had really got to Hitler personally, and that the Nazis were going to considerable lengths to get him stopped. The result of the meeting with Halifax, according to Wardell, was that 'Low treated things a little more gently.' As far as Low was concerned:

And doesn't that statement show the perverted societal view that Feinstein has.
...QUESTION:
How can one be a good citizen when they have broken the law?
...ANSWER:
They can't.
...WHY:
The mere definition of a good citizen is one who abides by the law.

So, does that mean that the Senators, who are supposed lawmakers are really, LAWBREAKERS? ...Yes...

I don't think many would say Mexico is an enemy. It is just a country with a very screwed up political and economic system that relies in part on mooching off a neighbor for its existence...

But imagine if we were in a war with Mexico. Who would all these illegals we allow in and their descendants fight for? We'd be infiltrated with the enemy. This is a good reason why we need only legal immigrants - who have to learn English, something about our constitution, and take a loyalty oath. What we are allowing is suicidal.
