Skip to comments.I Joined the Army instead of the Marines

You may remember a few months back around Novemeber, I was going to join the Marines. I finally told my parents and they freaked but they comprmised. I talked to both the Marines and Army I felt the Army gave me the best opportunity to serve my country in the way I want.I joined the Delay Entry Program in which I was able to move up a rank before going to boot camp. I'll be a signal support specialist, I leave two weeks after my graduation for boot camp. I look forward to serving in Iraq or Afghanistan that's why I joined. For me I couldn't sit back and agree with a war, and have other people fight for our country. After four years of service I plan on going to Texas State university and earn a Sports Marketing degree. If I still feel our country still needs men like me, i'll go in as officer.
Good luck young troop. I assume that you are going to Ft. Gordon for signal school. Where are you going to boot camp?
Thanks, and all the best to you.

Good luck & God Bless !
Thanks, in advance, for your service. I look forward to hearing how it all goes for you!
God Bless and Good Luck to You!
God Bless Ya Man!
Thank you for your service.
South Carolina in the summer should be fun ;)
Keep us posted. Some pictures maybe?
God speed and good luck.
I don't see much of what's little in you, Mr. Edwards. Thank you for your upcoming service to the nation.
Ahhh summer in the Carolina's...
It should be lovely.
You honor us with your Service.
You honor us with your Service.
congrats! The Army is the mother of Services.
The Army birthed the Navy during the Revolution. The Navy had to create a Revolutionary War history, so commandeered the deeds of Privateer/legal pirate J.P. Jones.
The Marine corps (shores of Tripoli and all that) was part of the Army until 11 July 1834. The young lieutenant who took Tripoli was a US Army officer.
Chuck Yeager was a fighter pilot in the Army Air Corps before he was a test pilot for the Air Force. The Air Force traces its history back to the Army Signal Corps. Army aviation traces its history back to the reconnassance balloons of Thaddeus Lowe and the Civil War. The Air Force deploys to fight from foreign bases, but the first Army Aviation deployment was to Cuba in 1898.
Good luck, and look beyond the propaganda. I will buy you dinner if I ever meet you in uniform.
Your name will be added to our prayer lists.
You are a crazy little SOB. Are you related to the former Senator Edwards?
Actually, I missed out on being a former Marine because the Corps only allowed a 6 month delayed enlistment period.
So then I joined the Army and about 3 weeks after the birth of my first, and 8 months after my enlistment I was saluting my butt off at Fort Dix. I'm glad that is over.
I wish you well, and thank you.
Way to go, and thank you! I think you're going to love it. Good move going for the commission (will that be the result of going to OCS, or because of a recently completed ROTC program?). Things will be much more interesting for you as an officer. Drop us a line once in a while and let us know how things are going, ok?
Thank you for volunteering. We wish you the very best.
Thank you in advance of your service.
May your aim be sure and your profile slim.
Thanks for enlisting, you'll do us proud.
Thank you for your service!
Best of Luck! :)
God Bless you Mr Edwards.
Good Luck. If there is ever anything you need, Freepmail me and I'll see what I can do for you!
And hang in there. There will be probably be lots of times where you will wonder if it is the right thing for you...it is. You won't regret it. It is going to make you into a better person.

Godspeed on your journey. Thank you for protecting the rest of us.
Good luck recruit and way to go!
Good luck. The service is what you make of it. You will encounter sh!+birds as well as dedicated soldiers. My recommendation would be to choose your friends carefully.
Hey now, don't talk about my son that way:')
God bless you and you be careful.
God bless you, and thanks!
Thanks, I'll be here rooting for you.
Today's Army has changed so much in the last 10 years, that I no longer recognize it. Has it changed for the better? HELL YES!
The next few months are going to be absolute hell for you. If not, then you need to quit ASAP!
There is a reason why Boot Camp is like that, since they have the most important job in the Army. Their job is to change how a man thinks and to mold him into a soldier.
Changing how a man thinks, is one of the most difficult things possible to teach, and the Army does a great job at it.
Soon, you will learn how to absolutely HATE your Drill Instructor, and if not, then he is not doing his job. A few weeks later, that same Drill Instructor (that you wanted to murder) will become your most respected leader.
When you have learned these lessons, then you have become a member of our military family. At that time, I will call you my brother.
The best to you. Any of them are honorable and none more important than the others. Thank you for serving our country. My son was in the Army for 6 years. He's in the Navy now, protecting Marines:')
