The time to have done something about the current "gouging" by OPEC nations has long passed.

Drilling in the "Pristine" Arctic Wilderness should have begun long ago. The same is true of the drilling in the Gulf and off the coast of California.

America's grievances would be appropriately laid at the feet of this repulsive congress which is full of those socialists who want the nation in tatters.

Even if the president believes this, it isn't a constructive sound-bite to come out of his mouth, imo.

If nothing else he should have made a comment about democratic obstructionism.

A bit of advice to users of gasolene.

".....resigned to being able to do little about it....."

Shrugging ones shoulders is NO EXCUSE for a concentrated attack on the Demon-crap's continued blockage of any and all Energy legislation.

This Administration's communication skills are virtually ZERO.

Funny how the federales so easily get involved in manipulating and influencing things except the things they SHOULD be doing it to.

Elian Gonzalez, smoking bans...but to dare mess with Kalifornia's and other states' legislation or practices that strangle the supply of petorleum? Well that's just out of the question!

Drilling is not the issue.

Refinery capacity is.

Federal state local taxes on a gallon of gas = average 50 cents per gallon. That is a "windfall profit"

So it's ok for the major oil companies to price gouge us all day long, but if the little guy at the local gas station tries it, well: "if we find any price gouging it will be dealt with firmly." This according to "Mr. nothing I can do."

If we stopped pumping up China's and India's economy so much, there wouldn't be as much competition for supplies.

Our outsourcing corporations are helping to rush our economic demise in more ways than one.
