Rasmussen's probably the most accurate because their sampling is far better. If Bush signs any immigration bill his numbers will only go up by maybe 5 points because only half the people will be satisfied and of course the ones not satisfied will vote "3rd party".

Two reasons for Bush's low ratings: (1) the price of gas; and (2) the war. The war is getting on people's nerves; we are used to quick fixes, and the stress is taking its toll.

What's was Bush's poll ratings in the two weeks prior to each Presidential election in November 2000 and 2004?

Why do people think Americans are stupid enough to be influenced by polls and not facts?

Isn't this in the statistical margin of error from the last poll?

With words like "fell" in the headline I was expecting 30% approval at least.

Will illegal immigration become an issue that galvanizes the elections?

While GW's approval rating has dropped to 32% there is still a 100% chance that he is still President and CNN is? Well???Behind FOX. ha!

Although Bush's numbers are low (that's a fact), we must remember that this, like the Fox poll, is a poll of "adults," not "registered to vote," "likely to vote" or "most likely to vote." And of those "adults" CNN polls 8-9% more dems than Repubs, and a larger than normal group of "independents." If Scott Rasmussen were to poll individuals "likely to vote" using his proven methodology Bush would probably come in around 45% or so. Not great, but certainly not 32%.

Maybe not because all the produce in supermarkets are from other countries so we grow our own but thanks for thinking about me.

I rather see all the construction sites with Americans cause they WILL do the job, I rather see high school kids who want to save for college in fast food joints cause they WILL DO the jobs, I rather see American landscapers cutting grass and doing lawns once again, I rather see men come to my door who are Americans when I call a roofer and foundation repair, wallpaper hangers, painters ALL AMERICAN who would could and will do those jobs!!

If Bush would do what the people want, as you said, his polls would rise overnight. Its even taking away from Iraq, and gas prices. What is wrong with him? Hes stuck on two points, jobs that we won't do, and mass deportations are not realistic. Somebody in his staff, please wake him up!

I do not think that another 'Trail of Tears' would enhance the poll numbers of Pres Bush. I listened to most of his talk today and I think he made as good a case as he could for the practical and humane approach to dealing with the illegal immigration problem. He seemed to make a point of referring to "jobs Americans won't do" and I knew that would catch him a lot of flack. I am not one who disagrees with that sentiment. I have had many occasions in the past 10 years of renovating our home and trying to hire help to know that such is the case. The stories I could tell!! And I am not alone. Perhaps we could have a version of the Affirmative Action program that would require employers to publicly list job openings and Americans would be given first crack at them. He is right about the congress having the job of expanding or shrinking green cards for various nationality groups. Congress has the opportunity to resolve this situation if they will.

People must have heard his great speech in Irvine CA.and the never ending insult slap-in-the-face line "jobs Americans just won't do"

I can't believe this intelligent, articulate President can't sell his beautiful vision of a merged USA-Mexico. What's the world coming to?

Just out of curiosity, with 4.7% unemployment, what pool of employees will go pick onions for $5.15 per hour?

They are for the bushbots.

Yeah...it's only the Bushbots that don't believe them...that think it's come grand conspiracy. Guess they'll have to wait until November to figure out that some of that negative rating with the GOP and Bush is coming from the Base.

Must be nice to live in Xanadu.

"Perhaps we could have a version of the Affirmative Action program that would require employers to publicly list job openings and Americans would be given first crack at them."

Let your job be one of the ones listed but at half the current pay. You might find that you have one of those jobs "Americans won't do".

Let me see, his approval rating was 48% when he was reelected and he's down 16% from that now. That means you are only 1/3rd of his base and the other 2/3rds just have a differencing of opinion on a single subject. Yea, I voted for him and that makes me a "Bushbot". Go vote 3rd party if you want and when the overall conservative movement goes no where from there don't blame Republicans for not being able to please everyone all the time. It's better to stick with the party and just start weeding out the Rinos and Libs.

Oil price hits a new high and Bush approval hits a new low.

That's the Hush Limbaugh defense for the administration. He wants to distract conservatives listeners from the real reason his poll numbers are low. Hush knows most listeners realize that the President doesn't control over gas prices (but he could repeal a gas tax or two).

The numbers are really low because of his amnesty plan which comes on the heals of pork spending, Harriet Miers, and Dubai Ports.

Close the border and start deporting, and what watch the poll climb!

Gosh, you think it might climb all the way back to 50%. Immigration is only one of many "no win" causes just like social security reform, and the war on terror. Bush is low because of gas prices and very effective Dem talking points handed out to the media.

"Just out of curiosity, with 4.7% unemployment, what pool of employees will go pick onions for $5.15 per hour?"

Probably nobody, which means they have to pay more. How many doctors would work for 25,000 dollars a year? None, so we pay them 250,000. If nobody wants to pick tomatoes at 5.15, pay them 10. If you divide 4.85 over a couple hundred tomatoes we'll pay maybe a penny or two more for a tomatoes, and pay thousands less a year for immigrants who drain our welfare state.
