Karenna Gore is still mad at you

AL Gore bumped into Avenue magazine editorial director Pamela Gross the other day at the Regency, where she told him his daughter will be on the May cover. Karenna told Avenue that during the Florida recount in 2000, "the rancor was overwhelming at times . . . There was this horrible mob outside the vice president's house that was recruited by political operatives. They just kept yelling, 'Get out of [Dick] Cheney's house.' That was really painful and rude."

I was there. My husband was there. My (then)16 year old son was there. My friends were there. None of the above, nor any standing with us, were "thugs" or "rude." The only "thugs" were those called in by the Gore's to counter us, who crossed to our side of the street, and went right into our faces with curses and threats. At the time, I recall even Spitter Matthews stating on his tv show that he never saw a better dressed, more orderly protest. (I think it was meant as a slam against "rich" Republicans). Poor Karenna ... maybe she should just MOVE ON ????
