Freaked me this morning as I clearly saw the smoke from the Hudson river this AM. First thing I did was check in on the news to make sure something really bad did not go down.

You would think terrorists would want a higher profile target than old warehouses but who knows. Probably, unless it turns out to be some sort of "work accident", although those usually, but not always, go "BOOM".

Is it close to the UN building? It'll have to jump the East River and head uptown. Maybe somebody can give it a ride.

Terroism is completely of the quesiton. Jihadis are out to do no one favors. Think insurance fraud, or an abandoned homeless campfire.

Not exactly kidding, just a sad commentary on the current practice of summarily ruling out terrorism before all the debris have quit falling.

Nice redevelopment opportunity. Get Vito Spatafore back from Vermont and we'll start Esplanade II with Carmine Jr.

Chelsea was jogging worrying about Bush' tax cuts and how it would make the Clinton Recession Worse.

I think I would rule out insurance fraud first. You know what they call (or used to call when I was growing up) a 'Brooklyn fire'?

Brooklyn is a great place. Lots of nice people there. Are you under some kind of duress or in immediate danger?

Precisely. Greenpoint is growing and gentrifying. It would be pretty sweet for a criminal-minded propertyowner if he could collect a ton of fire insurance on a ratty old warehouse and then turn around and sell the land it's on for another big payday.
