Serfs are always the ones to look to for guidance. Just think of all the great inventions, marvelous literature, fantastic music, awe-inspiring art, medical advances and intricate schools of philosophical thought they have given us.
Besides I was not referring to the Obsessed and Hysterical over Illegals but to the Economic Doom Loons whom nopardons was vainly attempting to educate. Perhaps looking into exactly what is being discussed before sticking your nose into it would prevent you from looking like a fool. Although I am sure there is some overlap since irrationalities tend to flow together.
One more time: I prefer the House bill too. I am trying to get across that to blindly attack the president and anyone who agrees with one in any form is NOT going to convince anyone of anything except to convince Democrats they've achieved a 1992 scenario and not going to achieve anything but another Clinton.
I am asking for intelligence and reasonable restraint to be used to get the point that the house bill is better across to the president and senate GOP, though I warn you Senate Dems will kill it and rewrite it again and again and again and again, indefinitely.

I was born in NC and have lived here nearly all my life, and still have trouble with the Down East "hoi toide" accent (that's "high tide" for the uninitiated). It almost sounds Cockney to my ears.

The reason that I posted to both you and dirtboy was to try to point out that not only is there room for common ground on this issue, but we had darn well better find it if we don't want to hand the dems a majority in Congress for the last two years of W's presidency. Rather than calling every post he makes BS and telling him to peddle it elsewhere, perhaps you could acknowledge one or two valid points in what he has said.

When the one or two valid points are buried in with the tons of other crap I don't care to waste the time. It's simple, peddle it elsewhere for those that don't mind wasting the time.
CWO is not even willing to deal with the polls that a majority of pubbies (52-40) oppose Bush on immigration as he claims this is some kind of minority fringe issue. If you cannot even get someone to acknowledge basic truths, it becomes impossible to have a debate, because their position is based on emotion, not reason or fact.
And I would just not bother rebutting CWO, except for the fact that I believe Bush is causing irreparable harm to the GOP and this country with what he is doing on this issue. And he needs to hear that, instead of getting a bunch of attaboys.
The "rabble" never do any good. It was not "rabble" which secured our freedoms but rather educated, enlightened men who understood the world. It was the rabble which got in the way. In FACT, the vast majority of the population could not even vote. Maybe 5% of the population in Virginia in 1800 was eligible. In New England perhaps 20% tops.
Nothing is easier to manipulate for evil purposes than the rabble this is why the Constitution was designed so as to reduce any such input. The Founders did not even want Senators to be elected. Nor the President by a direct vote.
And they took special pains to insulate the Courts from the influence of the "rabble" knowing that if they didn't there would be no justice.
I have never claimed to be anything but an elitist. I want the BEST for myself, my family and my country. This means I oppose the advent of the WORST and the influence of the Mindless Mobs. It is also why I spend so much time on FR since that is the place where I can obtain the BEST information from the smartest and the wisest. Since I am an elitist I attended the BEST schools I could and encouraged my sons to do the same.
Only demagogic rabble rousers claim to be non-elitists so they can better fool the rabble. Those of us who raised themselves out of the rabble through hard work understand it is nothing to emulate or praise.
Of course, when you can separate yourself from the consequences of decisions such as what Bush and the Senate are doing now, who cares? Bush will have a Secret Service guard the rest of his life. Senators will find some lovely gated community somewhere.
Meanwhile, us working stiffs, the ones you haughtily believe don't know better, will be the ones stuck living with the consequences of your elitist idiocy.

I trust that this communication finds you and the First Lady well.
I’d like to congratulation you on the fine speech you delivered the other evening. As I listened to your words, I could not help but compare their sincerity with the increasingly shrill rhetoric of those who have continually attacked you since taking office.
I know you are a man of conviction, a man who follows his principles and not polls; in short, a statesman, and not a politician. I am thankful for that in my daily prayers.
Least your staff become disheartened by the increasing volume and direction of the attacks, I would remind them that “we” elected you to lead us in this time of great peril. When I say “we”, I mean the common everyday Americans who simply go about our daily lives without becoming swept up by surreptitious political agenda or fear of our government. No matter how imperfect our current elected government is, it is “we” who chose it.
We did not elect the journalists who manufacture news and polls to suit their political agenda. Nor did we elect the single issue advocates or talk show hosts who market conservative values for profit. Although they each claim to know the secret to make our government perfect, they do not have the courage of their convictions to run for office and affect change. Instead they attempt to circumvent “our” will and the election process through demands, threats, cajoling, creating dissent and claiming to speak for “us”.
These people do not represent your base, any more then they represent “we” the people.
Stand firm and proud, you are doing a fine job.
