I noticed and winced as I posted it...
The stain of Earl Warren persists.
The writer cannot read his own writing. Deference is due to the "views of the political branches and the states," but he cites liberals' private "outrage" as a reason NOT to defer to Congress. If the courts should take private outrage into account, Judge Greer needed only to glance outside Terri's hospice to see it. Greer actually mocked private outrage with his rulings, and he is still mocking decent pro-life beliefs out on the lecture circuit.
U.S. Rep. Jim Davis, Smith's opponent in the Democratic primary, turned to the husband of the late Terri Schiavo for help. Michael Schiavo penned a letter reminding potential contributors that Davis "stood up for my family and yours" by opposing congressional efforts to keep Schiavo's brain-dead wife alive and asking them "to join me in standing tall for him."
"Your donation of $50, $100, $250 or up to the $500 limit before the June 30 deadline is absolutely critical so we can finally have a government that understands the difference between privacy and politics. There are only a few days left to the end of the quarter, so Jim needs your help now," Schiavo wrote.
Republican Chief Financial Officer Tom Gallagher, meanwhile, has fundraisers planned every day between now and June 30.

(When Robert Welch of the JBS was blasted for charging that Eisenhower was a communist, he should said, "I meant Milton!" :-) ) (Russell Kirk at National Review had the best reply to Welch: "Ike's not a communist. He's a golfer." :-) )
Frankly, Jim, I wouldn't vote for anyone who took money from a murderer. It obviously means that you endorse murder. Think about it, Jim. It's not too deep for you.
He brought about the new era, the epic, "Warren Peace". I (didn't) like Ike. Matter of fact, my reaction to Ike started me on my first foray into the grown up world of politic, but I was just a dumb kid.

Nor I. Ike was the favorite target of National Review in its early days (founded November, 1955).
I am shocked -- shocked! -- that you would post a pseudo-swear word to me. (Psst. Tell me what it was when we get outside.)
I presume the above boilerplate must have been supplied by the two brain-dead Orlando Sentinel writers, John Kennedy and Jason Garcia. I oppose any congressional effort to keep them alive.
Let's see. Democrat candidate Jim Davis [above] wants to coddle death-row inmates, and [#724] he takes money from a legalized murderer, Michael Schiavo. Davis obviously LOVES murderers. This is classic brainless leftism -- always side with the most anti-social persons or views.
Brainless leftism is the mainspring of the "right-to-die" movement.
The subjectivization of principle is not confined to the realm of the Kelo case by any means. I recently detected it, for instance, during discussions in the wake of the Terri Schiavo slaying as well. A disability rights activist was denouncing conservatives for "using" Terri's case to promote "their own principles." This assertion was put forth without the slightest qualm about its making no sense. A principle, by definition, cannot belong to one group or another but stands apart from and supercedes all opinions. From this characteristic alone derives the obligation to submit to it equally. Apart from what she was deriding as "conservative principle" there would be no such thing as a "disability rights activist" to hear from, in much the same way that critics of the war in Iraq fail to take note of the fact that they are still wearing their heads, a circumstance which permits them to carry on with their criticizing in the first place. When phrases such as "their principles" or "property rights base" are treated as legitimate and used without question, they deprive us of the legacy bequeathed to us by the Founding Fathers and by all American patriots, without so much as a shot being fired.

Terri on the road to recovery before the second stage began.
JACKSONVILLE · Randall Terry hopes northeast Florida voters will not simply focus on the more extreme comments he made as founder of the anti-abortion group Operation Rescue as he campaigns to unseat powerful state Sen. Jim King in the Republican primary.
Nor does he want them to solely look at his role in the unsuccessful effort last year to reinsert the feeding tube of Terri Schiavo, the severely brain-damaged woman who was at the center of a right-to-die case. He also hopes they can forgive his divorce and 1998 bankruptcy, the latter an effort to avoid paying $1.6 million in court-ordered civil penalties to Planned Parenthood and the National Organization for Women.

We still have some??
OCALA - The contest for state representative in Marion County's District 24 pits an incumbent Republican with an attraction for controversial issues against a political newcomer who served in the Iraq war.
State Rep. Dennis Baxley, R-Ocala, has been no stranger to controversy during the last two sessions in Tallahassee. He led the House's effort to intervene in the Terri Schiavo case and prevent removal of the brain damaged woman's feeding tube. He attempted to pass an "academic bill of rights" intended, he said, to keep liberal professors from punishing conservative students for their views.

I will have to get back with you on that question, soon, or so.
Helen Valois, in the columns I've read, is always on the money and always makes you think. She lives in the Wisconsin northwoods, which is my favorite place [Oneida County, Helen, and you?]. God's country. Where better to contemplate realities?
A classic hatchet job on Randall by AP. Just for the record, I rate the AP as #1 in the destroy-America biz. Sorry, New York Times.
Caution, topics like this attract trolls and pro-death crowd.
