By the 2004 re-election campaign, Hank Paulson had become one of Bush’s top fundraisers, raising at least $100,000 from other donors.

NPR's report this afternoon emphasized that point, saying that Paulson had been named a "Pioneer" during the last election, which meant he had raised at least $100,000 towards the President's reelection....

IMO, they tried to paint this as cronyism.

Most likely that is true in their intent. Just like the author of this article, lil' boy Bluey tried to smear the man with his selective editorializing of another article. The true conservatives can't stand the MSM for their slanted view points and then the true conservatives turn around and do the same thing.

I pay very little attention to the media from either side of the aisle. I prefer to have the facts as fully as I can get them and then make my own judgements of them in total. I don't need the right or left slant given by the author of the day.

Good to see you posting. Maybe I've missed your post as I've really not been online all that much myself.

Well that keeps the economy going and employment abounding for the folks that do the jobs Americans won't do. I got some to spend but can't find anyone to do the job, American or otherwise.

No big surprises here. People smart enough to become the CEO of a big company like Goldman Sachs are smart enough to know our government is for sale and the best way to get connected and get what you want is to spread a little money around.

It's more of the new tone. The problem is the new tone is sung by Little Johnny Onenote.

I do not hate Bush. I am very disappointed in Bush's policies, which are not Constitutional or conservative. There are some things I have liked - lower taxes and perhaps two good Supreme Court nominees. If I am kicked off for being a conservative, then this is not a conservative site.

Your posts seem to be especially off-target and irrelevant.

I cannot stand Buchanan for many reasons. I voted for Bush twice, for his father twice.

You jump to a lot of wrong conclusions, consistently.

Perhaps Bush didn't think the Treasury position had much to do with abortion.

"The nominee, Henry M. Paulson Jr., chief executive of Goldman Sachs, has given tens of thousands of dollars to Republicans over the past 15 years, but prior to 2000 he also donated money to Democrats"

Nuff said. Like most leaders of big companies, their large donations are spread out to both parties.

And when is it a prerequisite that the Treasury Secretary be of the same political cloth as the President? He's hired to do a job. And if he's willing to take a 99% pay-cut to serve as Treasury Secretary he can't be that bad.

I believe you owe me an apology. I am not a troll and you have absolutely no reason for calling me one. In fact, I am wondering just why you did?

"Paulson gave $2,000 to Sen. John McCain (R.-Ariz.) prior to the 2000 election, but there is no record of his donating to Bush."

Goldman-Sachs and their graduates - Corzine, Einsenberg, et al. serve an economic agenda which is supportive of globalism and economic conservativism coupled with radical social liberalism.

In short their only interest is in protecting their investments and would have done business with Hitler or Imperial Japan, selling them bombs and bullets if the price was right.
