Coulter won't apologize for slamming 9/11 widows
Newsday ^ | June 8, 2006 | JENNIFER MALONEY AND JOSEPH MALLIA

...a town where a dozen roadways are named in honor of those who died that day, few took to New York Avenue to protest the bookstore signing of the conservative author.

Instead, a defiant Coulter was met with more than 300 spirited fans at an event broadcast live to hundreds of radio stations by conservative commentator -- and Huntington Town resident -- Sean Hannity.

Huntington Town Board member Mark Cuthbertson, publicly rebuked her as he handed over a letter. "I'm here on behalf of many of my constituents. We are disgusted with your comments," he said, drawing hoots from the crowd.

Coulter ripped up the letter to the cheers of her admirers, an action Cuthberston later said shows she is "promoting hate speech."

Memorial Drive east of I-285 has been designated "Cynthia McKinney Parkway". It is not the most flattering stretch of road to have named for you. I would humbly suggest that The Bluff (the area squared off by Simpson, Bankhead, Ashby, and Northside) renamed 'McKinneyville'.

Huck Walther of the Right to Work foundation says that the louder and more shrill the outcry from criticism of a politician (and the four witches are politicians by their actions) the more accurate the initial blast. He also says now would be the time to double down increasing the criticism and show the liberal cows from NJ that th 9/11 victim card doesn't make them immune to criticism. If Coulter comes to Atlanta when I'm around I'll show up at a book signing cheering her.

The Republican Party is the party of vouchers, of cutting taxes, of securing the border

And here I thought the Republican party was the party of of "no child left behind", massively increasing spending, and amnesty for illegal aliens.

:-)

I grew up in the center of much of it. We used to play in the earthworks when we were little. They were all over the place. Many are still there if you know where to go in the woods. Did I mention we always heard horses galloping at night?

I never, ever heard it called the War of Northern Agression until recently. We always called it the War Between the States or more commonly, The Civil War.

Yes, I think the most principled "small l" libertarians have tended to be Republicans-- Milton Friedman being one of many examples. The people who have best articulated those principles since Friedman have tended to be conservatives such as Thomas Sowell. It's a shame that some "libertarians" have decided their biggest opponents are not the left and its Democratic Party exemplars, but rather conservatives like Ann.

Then you thought wrong. Using your logic, America itself would rightly be described as the country of welfarism, legally enforced racism and corporatism via tariffs, anti-trust and the rest. And so it is... Compared to Heaven, America is no doubt a dung heap. Compared to other nations, it is a shining star, a city on the hill. So, too with the Republican Party... Which is why Ronald Reagan set out to reform it rather than join or start some third party that would have given Jimmy Carter a second term as Teddy Roosevelt's foolish challenge led to the election of Woodrow Wilson.

It's about time people started standing up to the idiocy. I'm glad she tore up the letter - it's nothing but a distraction from the real points made in her book. Not every little 'nuance' deserves a response, not every little pipsqueak deserves a stage. Hillary, by refusing to discuss the rape charges surrounding her husband did the equivalent of tearing up the letter years ago. It's easy to ignore the truth when the lies get all the attention.

As you say. However when you say

your logic fails. just because the Republicans are marginally better than the Democrats is no reason to wholeheartedly embrace them. And a third party strategy works wonders. Ralph Nader forced the Democrats much farther to the left by being a spoiler.

Ancient societies did some things very right. The traditional year of mourning was one of those things.

Memories so far as I know are not going to go away. Therefore, the imperative is to have a respectful and acceptable period of mourning. A year is about right.

After that, there are no excuses.
Get on with your life.

My mama was the last to be born on the farm--then they all moved to Church Hill.

I learned to love the land from my grandfather. Church Hill was not for him. He put out 120 tomato plants the summer before he died at the ripe age of 92. Hanover tomatoes - if anyone has never had the priviledge of eating a Hanover tomato, well, I pity them.

You must be more gentle with those whose sensitive constitutions are not capable of absorbing the finer points of political trench warfare, of which Coulter is a master! ( LOL)

If you look at what happens in England in parliamentary debate, you will see that Coulter has other companions in the World of politics. Also there have been times when in America, there have been episodes of political trench warfare, the Swiftboat veterans and their successful expose of Kerry is but one example, which saved our nation.

Anne should be conducting workshops on political trench warfare for the Republican caucuses, in both the senate and the house. These weak-kneed old boys need some testosterone, and what better person to invoke it than a sexy ectomorph who wields a razor sharp, two edged sword.

They could even be held in secret.

Anne Coulter is the sexiest, strongest and most dedicated conservative in our nation. She is an excellent example on how to aggressively attack Democrats on their own weak- kneed, Utopian culture which would destroy America, if we but let them. She therefore is a source of unerring hope , a beacon in a wasteland of politically challenged consensualists (RINOs) willing to sell out our traditions of freedom for a few pieces of silver. Coulter crucifies them without apology, screws them in every possible position, 6 ways to sideways. She is a walking , talking version of a political karma sutra on how to screw democrats, make them pregnant, and have them liking it in the end ( no pun intended). That is why Democrats are both magnetized and repulsed by her at the same time. Many of we Conservatives would marry her in a New York minute, and she knows it.

Love you Anne, keep hitting them hard , and often. Look after yourself, and know that we true, fighting conservatives are with you, even if you don't need us!

A couple of nights ago I did something I normally never do - watched the beginning of Letterman One of his guests was Al Franken In his monologue he mentioned Franken's name to much cheering and applause of the audience. He then mentioned Coulter's name not much reaction and that was negative with a boo or two. My point being is that in liberal cesspools like NYC the vast majority of the population is just like the 4 hags - left wing liberals and we need people like Coulter to puncture their smug self satisfied ignorance/stupidity

I'm certain that if you asked her if she was biased, she'd answer truthfully and in the affirmative. I suspect she'd take it as an insult to be labeled "impartial."

In regards to her rhetoric being logical, reasonable and based in critical observation -- those attributes also define advocacy as well as analysis. Lawyers use just such tools every day to make their cases.

Advocacy isn't a dirty word. Our entire legal system is based on advocacy. I would say that two guys fighting it out using the based available facts and logic to make their case is the best way to get at the truth.

Other than a few token tax cuts Republicans aren't all that different than Democrats. They have gone on a spending spree that would have embarrassed Bill Clinton.

Few things are capable of embarassing Bill Clinton. The overspending of Republicans certainly is not one of them. Bill Clinton's universal health care plan was defeated only because Republicans stood united against it. As a percentage, the nation's deficit is smaller than at ANY time during the 1990's... Thanks to those "token" tax cuts which are driving the economy's growth so fast Ben Bernanke wants to slow it down.

One great Republican once said of another great Republican that

His great mission was to accomplish two things: first, to save his country from dismemberment and ruin; and, second, to free his country from the great crime of slavery. To do one or the other, or both, he must have the earnest sympathy and the powerful cooperation of his loyal fellow-countrymen. Without this primary and essential condition to success his efforts must have been vain and utterly fruitless. Had he put the abolition of slavery before the salvation of the Union, he would have inevitably driven from him a powerful class of the American people and rendered resistance to rebellion impossible. Viewed from the genuine abolition ground, Mr. Lincoln seemed tardy, cold, dull, and indifferent; but measuring him by the sentiment of his country, a sentiment he was bound as a statesman to consult, he was swift, zealous, radical, and determined.

This might just as easily be said of the Republican Party as a whole. One must always judge human institutions by their relevant alternatives. No political party is perfect just as no church is perfect just no economic or political system is perfect. The Constitution and Libertarian Parties are both isolationist in their foreign policies, the Libertarian Party supports open borders and the Constitution Party holds the Nader position on free trade. For all its faults, the Republican Party is well to the right of either when all of the positions of each are taken into consideration.

Speaking of Ralph Nader. his "influence" on the Democratic Party was mainly to make it lose, just as the Bull Moose Party of Roosevelt made the Republicans lose. As Rush Limbaugh has said, there's no such thing as winning by losing. That's why Ann Coulter is a Republican and thinks the idea of voting Constitution or Libertarian is self-defeating. "Trench warfare" is about facing reality and from there. She does this, and does it very well, and we should all learn from her. Anyone who has read her Treason or High Crimes understands that the Democrats are far more bad for the country than the Republicans are good for it. Clinton's negligence already weakened the United States by refusing to take Bin Ladin when he was offered up, cutting and running in Somalia, and any number of ways too long to go into. Anyone who thinks the two main Parties' differences are trivial is sadly mistaken--- and it is a vicious insult to Ann Coulter to mislabel her as one of those misguided, benighted souls.

Coulter won't apologize for slamming 9/11 widows
Coulter did not slam 9/11 widows.

She slammed four particular 9/11 widows.

Actually, she slammed four particularly vicious political opportunists who also happen to be 9/11 widows.

There is no way Coulter should apologize for this. She is performing a public service.

Much agree. I get sick and tired of the shrill traitorous dolts getting all the headlines and air time. We need a fiesty pointperson on our side. Coulter does marvelously in that role.

Too bad there's not a man to do it but Coulter makes a much more attractive point person anyway.

When I see the look on this girlieman's face when Ann rips up his letter it is priceless. Such a look of shock and dismay.
This petty socialist thought his letter was power and that Ann would be cowed by it. The victimization tactic and the fear of the right on being labeled has worn thin.
So what is this one hit wonder's fall back position? Ann is promoting "hate speech."

That got me thinking. What is "Hate speech"? Isn't that speech that is protected by the First Amendment? Isn't that the very reason for having a first amendment? So people can say unpopular things? Isn't that freedom?
Socialists like this tadpole hate this country because individual freedom carries responsibilities and our destiny is ours to make. Only cowards demand equality and the safety of the herd. Only failures like this want everyone to be the same. That is why they want income redistribution, destruction of corporations and the rich, and the ability to micromanage every aspect of our lives.

It was a stunt by this clown to get his name in the news. Well, Ann de-pantsed him in front of a live audience and now, thousands of miles away, I get to see what a loser he is.
