Somebody called into WMAL (DC area AM station) yesterday morning and said that there was a past supreme court decision that an English language requirement could not be considered a race based bias, or something like that. The caller didn't know the name of the case, and I had to get into work, so I didn't hear if any later callers filled in the blanks. A legal Freeper might know?
John Kerry asked for his with Swiss Cheese at the place across the street from Geno's. The other sign that has some people in a snit is the sign supporting the Police Officer that Mumia killed.
I'm sure Kenney is one of the Democrats that got 110% of the vote in the last election.
Pat Buchanan is on the phone with Joey now
WTG Geno!!! There should be a sign all across the boarders to:
"When entering AMERICA speak ENGLISH"
Going to go to Philly this weekend, just to have a Father's Day Philly Cheese!!!!
That would be Pat's. My personal favorite.
Joey again says we have his word on it .. The Sign is Staying Up
Can you imagine the uproar of the City of Philly tried to put him out of business
Did you hear the columnist from the Daily News? I wanted to punch her..LOL..I tried to call in while she was on but the line was busy.
Going to go to Philly this weekend, just to have a Father's Day Philly Cheese!!!!
wiz wit or wiz witout?
Your dating me too! I remember only American cheese on cheesesteaks. Wiz came around later on, and personally I don't like it at all.
No I miss her and didn't hear
The original Phila. Inquirer article that started this firestorm... |
Can you imagine the uproar of the City of Philly tried to put him out of business
From the Daily News:
So the government shouldn't interfere with Vento's right to run his business or his mouth off.
At the same time, no one should lift a hand to help him. Banish Geno's from the visitor's guides and tourism promotions. He clearly doesn't want the business.

I guess there is too little nuance, and it requires too much common sense to understand that the solution is for the non-english speaking CUSTOMER to have someone who speaks english to order for him/her rather than to expect the business owner to learn X-numbers of foreign languages in order to accomodate anyone who walks into his business.
Leave it to the Left to make this into a political issue that MUST have gov't intervention.
Geno's doesn't need Philly to promote their business .. so that is an empty threat
That's speaking English?
"I've been cursed out in some colorful language," Kenney, a Democrat, said yesterday. "It does reinforce that I'm on the right side. ... The redder the state, the worse it is."
Kenney said most of the 75 e-mails from Philadelphia expressed support for his position: that the signs do a disservice to the city and its effort to attract tourists.
FReepers in RED and BLUE states: Please consider calling or faxing Mr. Kenney with your thoughts about Geno's sign:
(215) 686-3450, (215) 686-3451 FAX: (215) 686-2013
.the lingo of "Whiz wit' " and "Whiz wit' out"
That's speaking English?
YUP! Philly lingo.
Councilman Jim Kenney's next paycheck should be in Pesos.
This is idiotic.
I know enough Spanish to order Arroz con Pollo or Flan.
What is so difficult about someone saying Pillycheese wit whiz or whatever.
