That's to indicate how much we'd rather he do ANYthing other than run the country - into the ground.

(The miserable, incompetent, boob.)

If they asked respondants "who was the worst president in the last 50 years" Carter may not show up because he was so bad, people have blocked it from their memories.

Jimmmmmmy 61% but they only polled left wing extremists and Iranian radicals. Amen.

That's an unfair statement.

I don't think you could find 39% of left-wing extremists or Iranian radicals who wouldn't love Jimmy Carter! ;-)

Wow! The fact that "Peanut Carter" got 61% approval just shows you that most people have no idea at what a rotten president Carter was. Thanks to this spine less ideate Iran is threatening us with nuclear weapons! The fact that JFK got 84% is just scary. That "pretty boy" almost started a nuclear war between the US and Cuba because he back down to Castro at the last second. Also the fact that Clinton is still popular is scary too. Just shows how stupid people can be.

"Such polls are meaningless, because most people could not tell you a single thing that Carter ever did."

He made lots of mistakes, but kicking off the age of Islamofascist terrorism is his crowning accomplishment.

A great number of respondents did not live through the hell that was the Carter administration.

Right on! We were in the process of financing a building, and interest rates soared beyond reach. Got up to 21% +. Inflation was about 14%.

But that's not what I primarily dislike about Carter.

His letting the Iranians almost totally cripple the United States by holding our embassy people hostage was despicable. His failure to act in any positive, intelligent way was cowardly. His dispatching six helicopters that were unfit for desert duty to rescue the hostages was worse than dumb. And the derision around the world and even here in the United States that stemmed from that failed mission was the genesis of some of the problems we've faced in the last 26 years.

Of course, I think that Sweet Old Bill (Clintoon) added fuel to the Mideast fires by failing to do anything except dispatch a few rockets at some tents in Iraq and an aspirin factory in Sudan after the Cole bombing, the embassy bombings, and other such actions by bin Laden. Then Sweet William refused to take bin Laden when offered. Oh yeah, he's right there on a low plane with Cahtah.

By the way, to me, the most humiliating thing Carter did during his miserable four years was to step up on his tippy-toes at the Moscow airport and kiss Leonid Brezhnev on the cheek following a summit meeting. Jimmy was so happy with whatever Leonid had swindled him out of that he had to kiss the man.

And so I was immensely glad when Reagan was inaugurated. Felt like Americans could hold our heads up again.

"I once read somewhere that when Kennedy died, he entered "the blameless house of the assassinated."

JFK was the ultimate victim during an age that values victimhood above all else. As long as you're a Democrat victim.

Tells you one of two things:

1) Polls are useless
2) Most Americans are clueless

Hope it is #1.

"because most people could not tell you a single thing that Carter ever did."

1. Gave away the panama canal to the chinese
2. Abondoned americans to terrorists in iran
3. Broke promises the the Shah of Iran to provide support thereby resulting in the violent overthrow of the Shah and subsequent kidnapping of Americans.
4. Responsible for the worst economy in recent memory

More recently
1. Praised Americas enemies
2. Used his status as an Ex President of the USA to undercut a currently sitting President and adversely impact official government policy
3. Praised elections in terrorist states and those of dictators while condeming elections in the USA as unfair

Thats all I can think of right now, besides thinking of this peanut brain is making me ill.

Most people that answered the Poll about Carter could not have been alive when he was president.

Hey, he kept us out of the 1980 Summer Olympics.

Good point. That was his boldest stand against the Soviets (which they repayed in 1984)... more likely an election year ploy than standing on principle.

Carter at 0.61?

What did this man do?

The only memories I have are of toothy grins, a bucktoothed child in a tree house, a beer-swilling retard, wearing sweaters to combat the energy crisis and being slapped around by a bunch of camel jockeys.

He and other liberal icons *must* have done noteworthy things that escaped my attention.

There has to be more to this than a pathological need to lionize the inept and bask in the glory of failure.

"Pretty much tells you who is answering these surveys."

Yeah......and who's wording the 'surveys', as well.
