Writing in the November 2005 edition of the American Prospect, Hirshman admitted that the real intention of the feminist movement was not “equality”, but to destroy what she calls “the unreconstructed family” of a husband and wife rearing children.

It's working in Europe. Their not even replacing themselves.

ping for a mom who raised 9 kids ;)

God bless you and all the other women who have chosen motherhood over corporate greed and raised a new generation of taxpayers. May God bless and reward your selflessness.

“They do not require a great intellect, they are not honored and they do not involve risks and the rewards that risk brings.”

Well, it's true that being a mother does not require a great intellect, any more than being a United States Senator does. (Or Thomas Sowell and about 60 clones of him would be Senators!) And mothers certainly aren't honored by the chattering classes.

However, nobody takes risks like parents. "Risk" is defined as "the uncertainty of an outcome." Nothing is more uncertain than how one's offspring will turn out, and there's no greater reward for the effort than a successful child. Why, when my Thomas is Pope, you can all say you knew me when ...

Alouette's and petitfour's descendants will populate a city when Linda Hirschmann gets a "Who wuz that b*tch, anyway?" from history.

Obviously you and I have different meanings to the word "religious".

By "religious" I mean someone who has a real relationship with God and is trying to follow His commandments. And I say this in a non-sectarian way. One of those basic commandments which is extant in every religion in the world, including Buddhism, is the Golden Rule - Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You, or a variant thereof. It is crystal clear that fiends like Hitler, Jim Jones and any others who bear some trappings of religion or carry holy books or make claims to be religious aren't religious at all, if they advocate or cause misery to others.

By "religious" you obviously mean something entirely different, not sure what.

Perhaps my examples are insufficient to get my point across.

How about all of these so-called priests who are being convicted of molesting/raping little boys? How about all these current priests who are advocates of homosexual marriage? Are those examples sufficient?

How would "a feminist" know?

"BEING religious" and "FAKING BEING religious" are two entirely different things.

Religious garb, officially belonging to a religoius sect or organization, attending some kind of house of worship, memorizing holy books, holding a position of authority in a sect or religious hierarchy, have NOTHING TO DO WITH ACTUALLY BEING RELIGIOUS.

Got it?

Priests who molest boys and/or advocate that which is against moral religious principles are PINO - Priests in name only.

I don't know how much clearer I need to make this.

You do nothing but continue to make my point that no matter what the standard is, you will continue to "move the goalpost", or "raise the bar" no matter what I say. It's almost as if anyone committing any sin is not religious in your book, and that's just absurd. You may not think that, you may not subscribe to it, but it is what you are displaying, GOT IT?

PINO? ROFLMAO. Whatever!

Okay, what do YOU mean by "religious"?

I don't mean perfect, I mean sincerely trying.

Thank you for your kind words, but I only had 4 ;)

Motherhood has always been a difficult job, now made even more difficult by feminists and government. There is only so much to give up, in terms of material goods, for one parent to be able to stay home and raise the kids. Lots of prayers and support from family and community can make the difference. Lots of large families here in the desert. Nice people here, and more churches and denominations than I can count. Mostly Evangelical.

Let me tell you a story.

In September 2003, my transmission went out in my car on Crenshaw Blvd. It was getting up into Rolling Hills. My aunt had just flown in for my mom's funeral service, and we were on our way to see my oldest daughter and get ready.

All the fancy cars/SUV's drove by us, yelling obcenities, and flipping us off, despite us being surrounded by a cloud of smoke. Yeah, I finally managed to limp into a parking lot, and luckily my oldest lived a block up the road.

Now in 2005, I was in the emergency room for a mild stroke. Later, the guy from MediCal apologized for hitting the wrong computer key. That's why they sprung me after 5 hours, and told me to go to bed and eliminate stress from my life. I had no insurance. My alternator decided that it would be a great time to go kaput. My hands turned into little balls, and I was trying to wave people past me, because my hazard lights obviously didn't work. Praise the Lord that I was only a block or so away from our old house. Not one middle finger or mouthed obscenity from anyone.

Bear with me, almost done. A man in a utility truck saw me stuck, and did a u-turn. He asked if I was okay, then redirected traffic so he could physically push me and the car onto the shoulder. He wore a baseball cap with a bible verse number on it. I think it was Isiah. He offered me a ride, but I figured he had somewhere to be, so I just thanked him and said, "God bless you". I meant every darn syllable.

Lots of those people who screamed at me in 2003 might have showed up for church every Sunday. Lots of people who didn't scream at me here, may have not been in a church in years.

We're all sinners. No one is exempt. I personally loathe those who corrupt in the name of the Lord. I don't care what religion you are, we all suffer dealing with wolves in sheep's clothing. I've posted back and forth with LJ for several years. Perhaps you might not have understood her replies. She's not generally judgemental, and I try not to be either....unless it's some fat little Saudi terrorist trying to blackmail us.

Btw...I was raised Catholic, and I'm disgusted with PINO's.

Wonder how long (if ever) it will take such an intelligent woman that SHE is the aberration and not the norm. The real world will pass her by and after she's gone, hardly anyone will know. Meanwhile millions of men and women will raise families and have grandchildren and life will go on. No heirs for Linda, too bad.

Her next mission will be to bring meals-on-wheels up to gourmet quality with a decent wine list so that old, rich biddies like her with no children to care for them, and friends no more mobile than they, can still have dinner with the TV in good style.

Anyone who had the stones to do that would do well to count themselves lucky if a punch in the nose was all they got.

Oh i can only imagine the reaction from my wife...

Hiding behind the anonymity of my account here, or not, I can tell you that my mother was an original radical feminist, a feminazi, from way back. She was difficult in the '50s and '60s, but when the '70s ushered in feminism, she went right for it. So, I know what it is like to have one as a parent. Every bitterness I tasted in life, from childhood to the present, was because of feminism.

The way I see it, the feminist, male or female, is anti-conservative, profoundly moment oriented, i.e., lives for the moment, demands instant gratification, are the ultimate hedonists, and care nothing about the future, except that today's pleasures are provided for in the future in some haphazard manner. Feminists don't invest, nor do they expect a return. They are metaphorically like hunter-gatherers taking berries and bugs from one area and moving on to the next, living hand to mouth.

Conservatives, who are anti-feminists, will engage in deferral of gratification so that the future can be more prosperous. My dad and I, we are conservatives. Conservatives invest. Raising children is an investment in something.

So it is not surprising that this feminist believes that child rearing is not worthy of....someone. It doesn't fit with their hunter-gatherer hand to mouth mentality. My mother did not raise me. She was not busy with career as she was trying to have a family with a feminist man she idolized and his boys who she considered her real sons.

Back to the article, notice the political speech. Let's parse and analyze this a little.

Feminist Says Child Rearing not Worthy of Time and Talents of Intelligent Humans

First, she could have said, "child rearing is not worth anyone's time." But no. It is not worth the time, she says, of "Intelligent Humans." Everyone wants to be an intelligent human. This is her way of saying, that if you want to raise your children, then you are not intelligent. It is also to say, if you want Me to think that You are intelligent, then you must think (as I tell you to think) that it not worth your time to raise children. I think most people are intelligent enough to see through her B.S. I don't know any conservatives who need her approval. Feminists are evil. Feminists are a greater immediate threat to the United States than Islam. She can go suck eggs.

"I wonder what career her mother had?" Well .she failed at child-rearing.

More children(and parents) need rearing(with a nice hickory switch).Wonderful how alittle temporary pain when young can save lots of pain later. And instilling a sense of guilt whenever something bad is done also helps curb bad deeds later. The kids that get no correction or guidance grow up? to be the spoiled self-centered whiners.
