BOSTON --Philadelphia Phillies ace pitcher Brett Myers was arrested Friday and charged with assaulting his wife on a downtown Boston street.
Myers, 25, who was scheduled to pitch Saturday against the Red Sox, got in an argument with his wife at about 12:20 a.m. at the corner of Boylston and Dalton streets, according to David Procopio, a spokesman for the Suffolk County District Attorney's office.
Myers' wife, Kim Wickman, and two witnesses told police that the pitcher hit her.
"The evidence at this point leads us to believe the victim was struck in the left side of her face," Procopio said.
One of the witnesses told investigations that Myers also pulled her hair.
Police responded to a 911 call at 12:26 p.m. and found Myers' wife crying with a swollen face, Procopio said.

I wouldn't want to be hit with the arm of a MLB pitcher. Musta packed quite a punch!
If the Phillies are smart they hold him out this weekend. The fans will be all over this ass hat and the comments will not be suitable for anyone under the age of 18.
Expect some level of protest at the game from the various women's groups if they do pitch him.
Spoken like a true flower of Texan Femininity...
;-)
(Remind me to never p!$$ you off.)
He's a big boy, 6'-4" and 240 lbs.
Is that what he called Mariotti? I have not heard any details. Just that he said something and got punished.
Good think Ozzie did not call him a Li(e)beral.
(If you have ever hear Jay Mariotti on one of his torrential Bush-bashing side tracks you would know he and Keith Oblermann deserve each other in the worst way).
Meyers will get the full fury of the Fenway fanatics.
Good luck buddy!!
Let's Go Mets!! We traded all our wife-beaters years ago.
He also called him a POS but it was the fag comment that got the press up in arms which is understandable since fags are no minority in the press corps.
I'll bet you are too.
I'd also be tempted to head for the hills if I really p*ssed off my wife, she's got 5 inches on me and some pounds as well.(I'm 5 ft 7, 140 Lbs.)
Perhaps Saturday should be "Icepack Day" at Fenway! :^)
Exactly. Men don't hit women.
His wife posted bail. There's probably not much to this.
Will McDonough of the Boston Globe one time punched out a Patriots cornerback named Ray Clayborne who decided he didn't like what the reporter had to say about him and decided to try and intimidate him. When Will died a few years back they held a viewing of his body in the Fleet Center so people could pay their respects. He knew football like few other people did.
Any woman who posts bail for her husband after he slapped her in the face and pulled her hair has something wrong with her. The fact that he felt it necessary to slap her and pull her hair as a guy his size shows that something is wrong with him.
Maybe they were made for one another....
A real man does NOT hit a woman for any reason, ever.
Chris Rock said it best...
"I never, ever hit a woman".
"But I sure as hell would shake the $h!t outta her!"
I just heard this story on WEEI. That means that, as this post is being written, signs are being drawn and eye-black is being applied across Red Sox nation. Will be a nice warm-up for the Pedro welcome-back boo fest.
