ROTTEN HUBBY SOLD OUR HOME AND FLED
NY Post ^ | June 25, 2006 | Brad Hamilton

June 25, 2006 -- A Brooklyn anesthesiologist callously ditched his wife and three kids, leaving them homeless after he secretly sold their house and fled the country with all their money, the wife alleges. Dr. Raihan Chowdhury was deemed a fugitive Wednesday for ignoring repeated court orders to provide for his hapless family.

His wife, Sharmin Sultana, who gave up her career as a gynecologist to become a full-time mom, is now broke and staying at a women's shelter with the couple's two daughters and toddler son.

All while her husband lives in luxury in his native Bangladesh, possibly having remarried without getting a divorce here, according to her divorce documents and her lawyer's statements in Brooklyn Family Court.

She won't be able to earn money as a doctor.

With her education she might be able to eventually get a decent job but then again that depends on whether or not she is a citizen.

Read my post at 139 to see why she would be able to practice medicine for at least four years or more.

She ought to update her license, and get to work and forget about the well, whatever he is.

Comment:

She will not be able to work as a doctor until she is licensed which would take her at least 4 to 7 years.

Read my post at 139.

In America, if he remarried before getting a legal divorce, he'd end up in jail and she sure would get the house (with the mortgage) and the kids (and the costs of raising them). But he couldn't earn that much for alimony while in jail.

(BTW, there's no alimony in Texas. But there is community property, which can include assets such as the benefits of education earned while married.)

prevent the disposition of property by a wife or former wife,

In order to disposition property, you have to own it. This directly opposes your statement that women cannot own property under Sharia.

Please make a list of those organizations that would spot a potential foreign doctor start up costs.

I am guessing that she did not do any certifications nor take any exams. Even so exams expire after seven years unless she took the Step 3.

See my post at 139.

This poor gal is looking at years not months to be certified and licensed to practice medicine in the USA.

Unfree Under Islam
Shariah endangers women's rights, from Iraq to Canada.

BY AYAAN HIRSI ALI

The draft Iraqi bill of rights favors men in other respects, such as the right to marry up to four wives, and the right to an easy divorce, without the interference of a court, simply by repeating "I divorce you" in the presence of two male witnesses. A wife divorced in such a fashion will receive an allowance for a period of three months to one year, and after that period nothing. On the other hand, if a wife wants a divorce, she must go to court and prove that her husband does not meet her material needs, that he is infertile and that he is impotent. Once a divorce is finalized, if there are children, the custody of the children will automatically go to the father (for boys at age 7 and for girls from the start of menstruation). Inheritance based on the Shariah means that wives will get only a small portion of the property of their husbands and a sister will get half what her brother gets.

here

It appears you are correct. Sharia law does allow women rights. The right to 3 month's alimony, the right to give up her children upon divorce (how liberating that must be!) The right to a few crumbs from her late husband's wealth, the right to half what she would get as a son.

Read post #146, under that 'perfect' islamic family law a woman can own property, but her husband or ex-husband controls what she can do with it.

Replace 'husband' with 'government', and you have the definition of Fascism: private ownership, under total government control.

If her med school is on the WHO list, why would it take 4-7 years for her to get her license? It makes sense that the other steps you described would take some significant time, but 4 years or more? She might as well start med school from the beginnng.

Thank you so much for correcting all of the bs posts concerning her ability to get licensed and the costs involved. My husband just finished his 4th year of OB/GYN residency and is getting ready to take his final boards. We are $300,000 in debt and each board exam step one, step two, step three, and final board certification exam costs a couple grand EACH. Not to mention the costs of MCATS, applying to medical school and applying for residency which will run $20,000 and UP. It has taken over a decade after college too get to this point and he made a whopping $32,000 last year living in New Orleans, where apartments, after Katrina, were $1,200 a month.

Becoming a certified U.S. doctor takes hard, gruelling work and a fortune. It's not a walk in the park straight to easy street. I wish more people understood that.

Comment:

The American Medical Association and their cronies in government make getting a state license to practice medicine as hard as possible.

After she completes all of the certifications, examinations and paid all the outlandish fees she still has to enter a residency program.

The shortest residency program is three years and can be longer than seven depending on the specialization.

As I said, I know many foreign resident doctors and most require several years to complete the process.

There is nothing etched in stone that even if she passes all the exams and gets certification she would right away get into a residency program.

She would be an extraordinary human being to have a state license in less than three years.

The system in this country is not kind to foreign doctors.

If she attended a specialization residency in her home country that would be wasted and totally worthless in this country.

It's all about money and the foreign doctor pays dearly to work in this country.

Here's an example of state sponsored sharia law in action:

Statement of Nina Shea, Director
Freedom House Center for Religious Freedom
Before the Congressional Human Rights Caucus
“Abdul Rahman and Anti-Conversion Laws”
April 7, 2006

...(See, New York Times. “The Crescent and the Gavel,” J. Alexander Their -a legal adviser to Afghanistan’s constitutional and judicial reform committee- March 26, 2006) fail to understand the pivotal, critical role of religious freedom. As important as property rights and criminal procedure are, without a right to religious freedom, they may not be guaranteed either, at least not for all groups. Blasphemy and apostasy will be criminalized and used against those Muslims who struggle to promote property rights for women heirs, for example – as was actually demonstrated in the arrest last October of the women’s magazine editor in Afghanistan. Individual rights across the board, equality under the law and other hallmarks of modernity will be undermined by a state-enforced retrograde interpretation of sharia.

Here

Once again - Blasphemy and apostasy will be criminalized and used against those Muslims who struggle to promote property rights for women heirs

Just a reminder: Blasphemy and apostasy both carry the death penalty...

Defend them all you wish, quibble about the finner points of what is islamic, and just how islamic sharia is, or how in keeping with sharia the current practices of islam are.

May your chains not bother you, may you pay the jizyah tax with a smile, and never do anything to offend your masters.

God help you. I won't be there to defend you. I will die before I allow that to happen to my country.

Why don't you give some examples of how women in America have the same rights as men in a Muslim country?

o Can have a man charged for a crime with no evidence other than her word.

o Can sue for divorce under no/false pretenses (always granted)

o Gets the house in a divorce.

o Gets the kids in a divorce.

o Can beat a man and have the police arrest him.

o Has preference over a man for government job.

Shall I go on?

Other than part about government jobs, all the things you describe can just as easily happen to a woman as man. I certainly acknowledge that men do sometimes get the shaft in a divorce, and that our system is far from perfect. However, women sometimes get the shaft as well. So I don't buy your argument that men here have it nearly as bad as women in a Muslim society.

I haven't heard of any American men who were killed by their mothers or sisters for dishonoring the family by flirting with a woman, or who were stoned to death for siring a child out of wedlock. I also haven't seen any laws that require a man to have his wife's or mother's permission to travel or work, or that specify that a man's testimony is worth a fraction of a woman's. Show me something along those lines and I might reconsider.

I have questions about the story BECAUSE

under the current law in most states, the domestic relations laws were changed just for this reason. EVEN IF she was not on the title, because he was married she would have had to sign off on the sale of the home.

She could literally "undo" the sale as defective and void as a matter of law. That leaves the buyer to go after him for a criminal act and her in a position for an emergency order for exclusive posession of the house.

This is especially true in Canada.

There may be lots of disagreement with the following statement so anyone can flame all they want.

Whether or not the Shamnesty bill passes on immigration there may in the future be a doctor shortage in the United States.

If the Shamnesty bill passes then that makes the situation even worse.

Studies have show that to turn a round a doctor shortage or overage takes about 12 to 15 years.
