Right-Wing Pundit's Work Under Scrutiny By HILLEL ITALIE, AP National Writer

(07-07) 19:17 PDT New York (AP) --

The syndicator of Ann Coulter's newspaper column is looking into allegations that the right-wing pundit has lifted material from other sources.

"We are reviewing the material and expect to have a response some time next week," Kathie Kerr, a spokeswoman for Universal Press Syndicate, told The Associated Press on Friday.

The New York Post and the Web sites Raw Story and the Rude Pundit have raised numerous questions about Coulter's columns, which appear in more than 100 newspapers, and her best-selling "Godless," already notorious for the author's calling four 9/11 widows, who supported Democrat John Kerry for president in 2004, "harpies" thriving on their husbands' demise.

Kerr said that the press syndicate had not discussed the allegations with Coulter, who was not immediately available for comment Friday. The publisher of "Godless," the Crown Publishing Group, issued a statement saying it had reviewed the "the allegations of plagiarism" in her book and "found them to be as trivial and meritless as they are irresponsible."

"As an experienced author and attorney, Ms. Coulter knows when attribution is appropriate, as underscored by the 19 pages and hundreds of endnotes contained in 'Godless,'" Crown's senior vice president and publisher, Steve Ross, said in the statement. [...]

Obviously they see Coulter as a threat who must be "dealt with" rather than challenged on the merits of her arguments. That's how the Left works.

You say it here yourself. She will be dealt with and it won't be pretty.

A thinking decent person just doesn't put in print (no matter if it's true or not) that women are enjoying their husbands' deaths ............... if not just for the women's children.

Ann was wrong and they'll make her pay over the years. She will be caricatured as the evil conservative, ruthless b*tch for decades.

And it needn't have happened at all. She already had made her very important point about the left's "victims" being sent out as "untouchable spokesmen". Such an error in judgment.

Sean Hannity is my favorite conservative.
He doesn't look for attention and is for the regular guy.

So the left has you with their human shields?

Is that sentence a statement or a question? What may you be trying to proclaim or ask?

If you are trying to ask me if I condone the left dragging out the myriad of professional victims, I do NOT!

The left's tactic that Ann pointed out so well is pathetic on their part. The demented John Murtha is just another example of the left hauling out a relic of a Marine to say things about the war and the military that no one should say.

Ann just unnecessarily went a little too far. (jmo) You have missed my sentiments, but that is no surprise.

I saw an autographed copy listed on ebay for $65 dollars. Not bad.

How much do you think my baseball signed by players from the '59 All-Star game is worth?

;-)

Sean is like a healthy green tomato on the vine in the cool of late, late October, a tomato that may just never, ever ripen (mature) before the cold sets in.

If he is to become more effective for our conservative causes, "little old" Vanity could use a large helping of actual humility.

(jmo)

Sean's whole "solemn vow," "blood oath" thing is getting just a little stale.

Its trivial. I'm sure they checked into her sources before the book came out. As for the column, mere similarity of thought is NOT plagiarism. There has to be identical unattributed word-for-word copying of another's work. I'm sure after the rash of liberals we've seen busted for being less than truthful about how they wrote as well as what they wrote, it was a matter of time before Ann Coulter's work came under scrutiny. Let's hope she addresses this in her column next week.

Ann is a master of satire.............

But liberals can't take a joke.

Ann's statements about the NJ girls will only benefit her with more publicity.

She gives libs a dose of their own medicine and they can't stand it.

Ann's statement that these NJ women are enjoying the deaths of their husbands is nothing more than satire.

Crictics of Ann apparently do not understand that satire is the art of making a joke by exaggerating the truth.

However, these NJ girls are indeed capitalizing the death of their husbands which is far worse IMHO thus providing Ann the opportunity to satirize them.

Ann is particularly funny because she uses satire so well.

The best way to annoy a liberal is to make fun of them and Ann gives us all a lesson on how to do it.

.."She isn't alone in her assessment of the professional widows. They're sick broads not unlike Cindy Sheehan. It was about time someone said it."..

I agree with you. People think many things they never say. I have seen grief stricken women in my own family over the years and I know the time it takes to recover. This group does not fit that mold.

A little plagiarism is like a little cannibalism? Here is the Monty Python take (phone rings):

"Hello!! As a naval officer I abhor the implication that the Royal Navy is a haven for cannibalism!! It is well known that we now have the problem relatively under control. It's just the R.A.F. who now suffer the largest casualties in this regard! But what do you think the Argyles ate at Aden? ARABS!!?

Yours, etc, Captain V.J. Schmellig. In a white wine sauce with shallots smothered in garlic!"

Anyway, it's about censorship, IMHO. Charging plagiarism is the weapon used to attempt to silence Ann Coulter. Failed before, won't succeed this time either.

So what!

Ann is not a tenured professor at some leftist university. She, and others like her, are not proclaiming "original thought".

This is nothing more than an attempt by the moonbats to avoid debating her. They know she will destroy them eg Alan Clomes, so they are going to use the plagiarism defense to avoid defending their shallow excuse for intellect.

"Oh, well - another twist. Now plagiarism is not lifting a literary work or a scientific research"

Indeed. I'd always thought plagiarisim was stealing an idea (and so neccessarialy the wording) NOT descriptions. The only similar passages I've seen quoted involve journalist type descriptions of things, in which case every newspaper everyday is guilty of plagiarisim.

You can do what my husband did. Back when Rush had "See I told you so" as a bestseller, he had some lib friends come visit. He made a shrine (2 lit candles, the book and a Time magazone cover with him on the cover.).

Sent them into orbit.

My liberal relatives are saying that the Democrats can put up Mickey Mouse as a candidate (in 08) and they will crush the GOP.

I ask them what the Democrats stand for....and I ate my entire salad before anyone uttered a word.
