It evidently is more secret than Skull and Bones!

Who are these people? Is John Conyers involved?

Why haven't we heard one word about this since 1956???

This interview could be summed up as simply two liberal ignoramuses yammering at one another. Imagine, a group of utra-liberal "intellectual" academia nuts deducing that conservatives are basically evil people. What a shock.

"Dean contended that a number conservatives "march in lockstep when they get the word from the authority they are expected to follow."

LOL Dean obviously has never visited FR. If you want to find critics of Bush, Rush, Hannity, Coulter, Buchanan, Savage, O'Reilly, or any other conservative, you can find plenty of them right here.

But can Dean explain why - if there are no authoritarians on the Left - the Left always creates authoritarian or totalitarian governments? As usual, when finding authoritarians only on the Right, the Left is engaging in psychological projection.

Did he ever identify the study or its authors?

It's hard to know where to begin with these two, isn't it?

John Dean...I'd almost give him a pass because of his age- but that's unfair to the many older men who still have their wits about them and have retained the ability to T H I N K. Just reading the interview muddies my brain!

Olberman..well...ppppfffttt..

John Dean has even less credibility than Howard Dean.

However, anything that fans the paranoia on the Left is OK with me.

Olbermann can't reach the moral ground of Dan Rather if he stands on his tiptoes. At least Dan had some journalistic capability early in his career. Now Dan is finished and Olbermann is a has-been that never-was.

CABLE NEWS RACE RATINGS FOR TUES, MARCH 29 VIEWERSHIP:

http://www.scaredmonkeys.com/2005/03/31/cable-news-ratings-is-msnbc-still-on/

FNC OREILLY 2,428,000
FNC HANNITY/COLMES 2,121,000
FNC GRETA 1,700,000
CNN LARRY KING 1,529,000
FNC CNN AARON BROWN 1,160,000
CNN COOPER 748,000
CNN PAULA ZAHN 664,000
MSNBC OLBERMANN 490,000<
CNNHN NANCY GRACE 420,000
MSNBC ABRAMS 412,000
MSNBC HARDBALL 396,000
MSNBC SCARBOROUGH 386,000
CNBC DENNIS MILLER 110,000

Is MSNBC actually still on the air and if so how or maybe the question be why? Their 4 Top Shows: OLBERMANN 490,000, ABRAMS 412,000, HARDBALL 396,000 and SCARBOROUGH 386,000 combined are barely better than Fox’s SHEP SMITH 1,402,000 in viewership.

The Fox Report with Shepard Smith is a 7pm show while the MSBNC one’s are more traditional Prime Time Shows. When the entire MSNBC line up competes with either Hannity & Combs or The O’Reilly Factor its not even a contest.

That's pretty bad. Most people (myself included) don't watch Shep anymore.

So, why do these 4 leftist Moonbats (Ok, Scarborough is only a Moderate, which is no bid deal in of itself) get any traction whatsoever?

I like this:

Keith Olbermann Shows the class act that he truly is. What are your Ratings like these days Keith?

Keith Olbermann has acted like a pompous buffoon for years. His show “Countdown,” “Meltdown”or “Down for the Count” or whatever’s ratings usually never wind up on the radar screen and it is no wonder. I know of no one that actually admits watching it was it is almost unwatchable. It is amazing that it is actually on the air.

There may be some truth to the rumor that the US military in GITMO force the prisoners detained there to extract information from them. It is said to work quite well and prisoners would rather sing like canaries rather that be forced to watch one minute of ”Countdown With Keith Olbermann.”

Then who???

Sounds like Dean is biting off of Richard Hofstadter's book the "The Paranoid Style in American Politics" and the cultural Marxist T.W. Adorno's "The Authoritarian Personality", which influenced the former.

The idea behind both is roughly the same: pretend to respect the "true conservatism" of some long dead figure while attacking the motivation of actual conservatives rather than their ideas, basing that attack on the idea that while conservatism is a moderate form of fascism, leftism is fascism's opposite.

Given Dean's debt to Hofstadter, Goldwater would be quite mystified and insulted by Dean's dedication to him, since the Goldwater conservatives were precisely the sort who Adorno and Hofstadter were slandering.

Thank goodness we have historians such as LS, Paul Johnson and George Nash who attempt to tell rather than spin history, as opposed to being stuck with the reductionist revisionism of the Hofstadters, Deans and Adornos.

"The Man With Two Brains", staring Steve Martin.

"The Man With NO Brain", staring Keith Olberman.

"Dean contended that a number conservatives "march in lockstep when they get the word from the authority they are expected to follow."

He's both an idiot and a liar, as anyone who has watched Conservatives yank the GOP around for Harriet Myers' SCOTUS nomination, over-spending, CFR, and immigration can attest.

The "radical Left," in constrast, is a cult that marched in lockstep with former President Clinton when he invaded Haiti, bombed Bosnia, bombed Iraq, bombed Sudan, bombed Afghanistan, waged war on Serbia, and appeased North Korea with a NUCLEAR POWER PLANT that the Left would in other circumstances have declared shouldn't be built.

That's correct, the American Left-Wing is peachy fine with building nuclear power plants for North Korea, but those same Leftists are dead set against nuclear power in the U.S. (even though it contributes no greenhouse gasses to global warming and even though new pebble-bed nuclear reactors physically *can't* melt down).

It seems that Dean is trying to have it both ways, i.e., he is saying conservatives ARE authoritarian personalities AND - simultaneously - hapless, obedient FOLLOWERS of authoritarian personalities. But one of the overwhelming impressions I have of Freepers is that they QUESTION authority, even the authority of so-called conservatives like Bush, Rush, Hannity, and O'Reilly.
