This is the most amazing video I have seen and I am now po'ed to no end. Brings home why we are in the middle east right now.
It's a phone call of Kevin Cosgrove to a 9/11 operator while in Tower 2 of the World Trade Center. The call is set to video and is chilling.

My cousin was one of the firefighters going up to try to save Kevin and all the others. His was one of the last bodies to be found.

I've watched it a hundred times and I still find it as dsturbing as the first time I watched it.
I haven't found myself crying about the attack and the deaths in a long time. I got choked up when I went to Ground Zero earlier this year while in NYC, but I've not really shed many tears since the weeks after the attack. Today, I found tears streaming down my cheeks while listening to the man on the line. And, then, when the tower began to come down and I could hear in his voice ... his cries ... that he KNEW what was happening to him ... I lost it.
This needs to be played over and over and over and over again ... every time some damned Democrat starts to whine and complain, play this recording. Make 'em listen.
Whoa, whoa, whoa - having been in the operator's position, she's not being stupid, she's maintaining communication with the caller. Would you rather she be discussing the weather with him or how lovely and cool it is in her office? Or should she let him know just how frustrated she is that she can't do a damned thing from where she's sitting? Maybe she should have just told him "we have your location, assistance is on the way," and released the lines so other people could call in. Or she could have said "Kev, buddy old pal, you're well and truly facked, are there any last words you'd like us to pass on for you?" Or maybe she just should have sat there silently, listening to him die.
I wanted to watch the video last night but YouTube decided to do maintenance. :( I just watched the video a few minutes ago and then skimmed through the posts on this thread as I tried to reorient myself to the here-and-now.

I could almost imagine I was in that building with him. The heat, the thick black smoke, unable to breathe, wondering how even the firefighters would get me out of there. Not knowing what had happened. Panic. Bring help in from everywhere, too young to die, have kids... deep down knowing it was a hopeless situation. I was surprised how calm he was, considering the circumstances. I wanted to pray. I recited the 23rd Psalm in my mind. Then.... "Oh God! Oh!" Deafening Silence. CHILLING. Heart dropped in my stomach. Knowing there were thousands others trapped in those buildings. Tears.. sobs...

I know I've heard the name of your cousin and it always bears repeating that we also lost a freeper, "BCM" or Battalion Chief Moran. I apologize if this has been posted already in this thread. Prayers to you, Palladin.
I had the same thoughts as you. And as I was listening to the operator, I think she KNEW there was not much she could do for him, but stay with him on the line. How helpless she must have felt.
