I'll wait and see what Gibson has to say for himself. He is a loose cannon politically so this isn't entirely impossible but I think he deserves a fair hearing. I just don't see someone who is barely over the legal alcohol limit acting like this. That said liberals don't care about Anti-Semitism when it serves their purposes and if they "crucify" Gibson then maybe we should make a bigger deal when their chosen icons make Anti-Semitic Comments.

So the theory being put forward is that what you say when you are drunk is a revelation of your true feelings and beliefs and you should be held fully responsible of every remark.

No one here or in Hollywood has ever been drunk or seen someone drunk who acted obnoxious and said something incredibly stupid which was out of character.

The new standard is- it is OK to be drunk in public as long as you do not act or behave drunk?

He deserves to be criticized and punished for driving drunk, but I do not quite see the case for attacking him for acting drunk when he was drunk.

Something will soon knock this out of the news (I give it 3 weeks tops) and accompanied by his apologies he will be just as popular and maybe more so because of the publicity.

However, I hope this will force him to get over his habit.

No,its not an ignorant statement at all.Alcohol brings out the real ugly side of many folks and removes the civilized mask people wear.
I will never forget the nice long haired liberal who drove me to the Atlanta Airport from Athens back in 1971 and,drunk off his butt,drove around the Atlanta ghetto hurling vile racist obcenities at blacks and almost got both of us killed.
