Have you ever noticed that after about 10 pints of Guinness, you get invisible? I certainly have! And, I cannot be heard by anyone either except those I address. It is mystical stuff, Guinness...

"There are advances being made in metamaterials that mean the first devices will probably be used for bending radar waves or the electromagnetic waves used by mobile phones," he said. Interesting. Wonder if this would shield against EMP?

"If you replace the water with light then you would not see that there was something present because the light is guided around the person or object. You would see the light coming from the scenery behind as if there was nothing in front,"
Interesting analogy but in water there is visible turbulence might not there also be with light similar to gasoline vapors? The invisibility shield in the Predator movie comes to mind. Very good but not perfect invisibility.

Stick your head in a hole and if you can't see anyone then chances are they can't see you either.

I've noticed most scientists believe in whatever continues their funding. :D I have yet to hear one say, "well, our research has finally resolved X, so we no longer need to research it".

Well, since we are talking about bending waves then light or magnet waves wouldn't be any different in that sense.
Even 'pulsed' magnetism is still waves. Just a shorter duration.

The Invisible Man went to the doctor for his yearly checkup. Unfortunately the nurse told him, "The doctor can't see you now."
