US Muslims bristle at Bush term "Islamic fascists" Thu Aug 10, 2006 3:07 PM ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Muslim groups criticized President George W. Bush on Thursday for calling a foiled plot to blow up airplanes part of a "war with Islamic fascists," saying the term could inflame anti-Muslim tensions.
U.S. officials have said the plot, thwarted by Britain, to blow up several aircraft over the Atlantic bore many of the hallmarks of al Qaeda.
"We believe this is an ill-advised term and we believe that it is counter-productive to associate Islam or Muslims with fascism," said Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations advocacy group.
"We ought to take advantage of these incidents to make sure that we do not start a religious war against Islam and Muslims," he told a news conference in Washington.
"We urge him (Bush) and we urge other public officials to restrain themselves."
Awad said U.S. officials should take the lead from their British counterparts who had steered clear of using what he considered inflammatory terms when they announced the arrest of more than 20 suspects in the reported plot.
Hours after the news broke, Bush said it was "a stark reminder that this nation is at war with Islamic fascists who will use any means to destroy those of us who love freedom, to hurt our nation."

You are not Wanted nor Needed nor Respected nor Loved. Now shut the hell up, it's worldwide and it is beginning to unfurl against you. (From Times of India newspaper, 10 August 2006):
"Muslims, violent and the silent ones, both are forcing the non-Muslim world slowly into a situation, where anything with a Muslim tag would be seen as a major threat. How come we find no Muslims coming forward and helping the authorities fight terror in various countries? If persisted with this, Islam might even end up being regarded as a psychiatric illness and an illegal faith within the next few years. Pankaj Mohan, Ahmedabad, India ========== "
Look, I'm as incensed as you are with fake moderates like those at CAIR and many others. But that doesn't justify a blatant and bigoted lie, particularly one that is DAMAGING to our cause in turning away, discouraging or demoralizing vital allies, which is exactly what your statement is.
Muslims are dying every day fighting Islamism, in fact in far larger numbers than Americans or any other Westerners. I recall at least a couple stories from Pakistan over the years where Muslim security guards suffered injury or death protecting Christian enclaves or schools attacked by militants. Much of the research in Steve Emerson's breakthrough American Jihad was done by a devout Muslim, Khalid Duran, who has also worked with Daniel Pipes.
THE AGENT(s) WHO INFILTRATED THE BRITISH CELL AND THWARTED A TRANSATLANTIC ATTACK THAT MIGHT HAVE KILLED THOUSANDS WAS (almost certainly) A MUSLIM.
Tasbith Sayeed (sp?) a Pakistani journalist published editorials by outright Zionists (e.g. Avi Davis) as well as savaging extremists in his own columns, and (word is) assiduously outed fake-moderate Muslims involved in ecumenical movements with Jews and Christians. One of Bush's biggest boosters, and anti-Islamist columnist, is the Iranian expat Amir Taheri.
I could go on and on.
Defining such individuals out of existence is as stupid, damaging and counterfactual as it would have been, during the cold war, to claim that Alexander Solzenitzen was just another commie.
I'm with you on that one.
..."we believe that it is counter-productive to associate Islam or Muslims with fascism,"...
One can then only ask the question, counter-productive for
who? Certainly it would be counter-productive for the muslims who support the Islamic fascists to be called to
account over their support, they would prefer to work
unnoticed and undisturbed, the very fact that they bring
this up damns their argument.
I saw a Marine today, shook his hand, and thanked him for his service. He said he might go back to Iraq fairly soon, and I told him that my vote was for them to stop taking prisoners; just waste them on the spot, if the mainstream media aren't around.
Would they prefer Satanic Towelheads?
I think you're right. And I hope so! But in the Muslim American community, I don't know how many truly support what goes on for or against us. And some of the Muslims in America seem to be supportive of the Islamo fascists tacitly, for their own well being. Not because they're fans, but because they're concerned about their futures. It's a closed community and who wants to be the one to shout out against the terror? -cue crickets - That's right, so far, not many. I don't believe they all agree with the terrorists, at least it doesn't seem so with fully 'Americanized' families, but who can know for sure? Cair needs to be careful, like you said, their base and the power over that base could erode quickly. Here's to hoping it's soon.
"If only 10% of Muslims are radical, that's still 120 million who want to kill us."
i've completely had it with islam's perpetual sensitivities, the unhealable ego wound. if it's going to be war, let's stop playing games and do it.
Grandma was a wise woman.
If I had a nickel for every time one of those CAIR morons likened Israel to fascism and/or Nazism...well, you all get the idea.
CAIR can kiss my rear end.
What have they to complain about, bush said islamic "fascist," not islamists in general (though we all know how that goes, wink wink).
When they condemn anti semitic acts in general as a whole, then they have something to talk about, but for now, SHUT YOUR PIE HOLE
