Arellano, who was deported shortly after illegally crossing into the United States in 1997, is president of United Latino Family, which lobbies for families that could be split by deportation.

Jus' pingin' through...this is a follow-up to an earlier story on this woman, isn't it?
Activist defies deportation, takes refuge in church
By Oscar Avila

A prominent advocate for illegal immigrants began a second day of refuge in a West Side church in defiance of federal authorities in Chicago who are trying to deport her.
sure is a great statement about one's organization when the leaders are criminals......
sick of this victim claim from invaders....
Long time Jinx~
I heard a guy on Prager today say what will it take for 'us' to gather 50 million in March against illegals especially considering the stats released from Census
In Chgo we have 32%
LA has 1 of every 3 who are hispanic
In your opinion my friend what will happen if as she said in an interview here today, she will make this like Elian and it will make the DHS look like fools
Hiya girlie ;) long timeeeeeeee
Well hopefully she pisses DHS off enough hey?
There are 8 billion others out there who would like to do the same. Sorry, I have no feeling for this woman.
So we can deport waterfowl in a place of worship but we can't pray in schools or send illegal human immigrants back where they came from.
There truly is no hope.
What is way down in the Trib article is that she had fake documentation and was working at O'Hare...she has been previously deported and comes back to defy but I was pleased this was in the liberal Trib...
Arellano, a cleaning woman at O'Hare International Airport, was arrested in 2002 during an immigration sweep aimed at securing the nation's aviation system after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Authorities discovered she had been using a fake Social Security number to work and had previously been deported and re-entered the country illegally.
I think Durbie is scared to go to bat for her again..
"If Homeland Security chooses to send agents to a holy place, I would know that God wants me to serve as an example of the hatred and hypocrisy of the current administration," Arellano said.
Spare me chickie!
You can't claim Sanctuary. We don't live in a theocracy.
Pardon me, but the church isn't to be used for criminal activity. This is the ploy used by terrorists. Law enforcement needs to go in and get this b*tch post-haste and deport her a** ASAP.
I know but she is using it to illicit sympathy from the big bad DHS
I am as compassionate as the next man, but then I live next to a cemetery.
You said it best!
She is no terrorist, she is a mother....
She's a mother alright...
Elvira Arellano, who became a national spokeswoman for families facing deportation became a symbol for the state's 400,000 illegal immigrants.
~Liberal rioters here in my city
Humboldt Pk is the singlemost gang territory here
churches and synagogues harbored illegal immigrants and they should also be arrested!
(some religious leaders have said recently they are not bound to follow tough immigration laws they consider immoral-Cardinal Roger Mahony in Los Angeles for startes)
Carlina Tapia-Ruano, a Chicago immigration attorney, said the defiance might make homeland security officials more determined to take action so they aren't viewed as soft on illegal immigration.
"Any attention given to this case makes the next step unpredictable, whether it is by the agency or whether it is by Elvira," said Tapia-Ruano, president of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
Arellano's supporters say that if agents do try to make an arrest at the church, they want it to be a chaotic scene, much like the 2000 raid in which federal agents seized 6-year-old Elian Gonzalez to return him to his father in Cuba.
If I have to spend 10 or 20 years in jail, I don't care," Arellano insisted
~Bye bye tell DHS you support them
One of my favorite places
If she doesn't mind spending 10-15 years in jail, neither do we. So, INS arrest this criminal!
Church shelters immigrant; feds vow to arrest her
"I knew my church wouldn't abandon me in my moment of desperation," Arellano said in Spanish.
I love how this woman is an "activist" and that's probably how she got busted.
The darn INS should be at every pro-illegal rally and arrest everyone there.
when did churches become sanctuary from the law???
Pres Clinton had Janet Reno not only break down the doors to a church, but in donig so, they incenerated all in there along with 40+ children.
While I don't think a Catholic church in Chicago would suffer the same fate...there is precident for it and I am sure that there are those in govt who would carry out the order.
Senate Passes Border Fencing Amendment
On Wednesday, August 2, the Senate overwhelmingly approved an amendment to the FY 07 Department of Defense appropriations bill (H.R. 5631) that would appropriate $1.8 billion for the construction of border fencing and vehicle barriers along the southern border.
Think of the thousands they could have gotten just in their two protests here
in her mind
~they did it in the civil war
"but then I live next to a cemetery."
I love my neighbors.
You know its a series and hugh protest when they bring out the lolipops
I see a large riot in the future if they do this in Humboldt park, it is ALL hispanic and predominantly gangs
WE already have given her son a better life. Time to ship her law breaking rear back.
That was our first mistake!
It's the "amnesty/temporary worker proposal (S. 2611)" that has me worried.
"There are 8 billion others out there who would like to [stay in America and give their children a better life]. Sorry, I have no feeling for this woman."
You are right. Most Americans have never witnessed the large crowds and long lines in front of U.S. embassies in cities like Manila and Beijing. The whole world(!) wants to come to America.
The liberals need to face it. The whole world just can't come to America. Immigration quotas must be based on the needs of the United States as a nation (YES, SOVEREIGNTY STILL MATTERS), the limits must be calculated carefully and set so as not to damage the hopes of those already here legally (and not to steal from those who are already here legally). Immigration limits must be strictly enforced, and foreign nationals must be absolutely restricted to legally established procedures for entry into the United States. Otherwise we have nothing but a deepening and broadening chaos.
So is the church going to start defending all criminals in their moments of desperation so no one will be jailed?
Any church that participates in this type of activity should lose its tax exempt status. Additionally, the priest, ministers and other church elders and officials should stand trial for aiding criminal activity.

RFID SPYCHIPS IN PASSPORTS MAY BE JUST THE START
They're deporting ducks now? How odd.
Why would anyone want to deport ducks?
Oh! Nevermind. :)
