Mel Gibson does deal on DUI

LIFE STYLE EXTRA (UK) - Mel Gibson has escaped jail after pleading guilty to drunk driving.

The 'Mad Max' star agreed a plea bargain with prosecutors on Thursday (17.08.06) and in return was given three years probation, ordered to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and told to enrol in an alcohol abuse programme for three months.

Mel - who was also fined $1,300 and had his driving license restricted for 90 days - was arrested on July 28 after being pulled over on Pacific Coast Highway, in Maui, for speeding.

He then launched into an anti-Semitic tirade, during which he allegedly said: "Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world."

Afterwards, the 50-year-old actor profusely apologised for his comments.

Mel said: "I acted like a persson completely out of control when I was arrested, and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable.

"I am deeply ashamed of everything I said, and I apologise to anyone who I have offended."

Mel - who signed the plea agreement and waived his right to a jury trial on Monday (14.08.06) - did not appear in court for the hearing. His lawyer Blair Berk entered the plea on his behalf.

Malibu's deputy district attorney Gina Satriano said in a statement: "This was an appropriate outcome which addresses all the public safety concerns of drinking and driving."

It has been obvious for YEARS that Mel Gibson agreed with his father. And his father is dangerous - he write books and articles. He is not some senile old koot who sits on a street corner in his own urine and screams at people. And his new "wife" shares his beliefs.

No, dear - take some xanax, breathe deeply and admit that Gibson is a creep with some dangerous ideas (which you probably share).

No, I am not a shrink. It is MY opinion, just like you have opinion.
Of course what Hutton Gibson said was ridiculous, wrong, and terrible. And I don't know "any circles" where they were applauded".

And one final time I will say it-it ALL comes down to this-the only thing some of care about is that Mel denounce his father. For some reason that sticks in your craw. If he his disloyal to his Dad, sticks a knife in his father, than everything will be all right.

You do know SO much about Mel. My, my my I can't get over how much you know about him. Are you stalking this man??? You know I think I should call the police and tell them that there is a woman named Juliej who pretends that she can't stand Mel Gibson, but who knows just a "little" too much about him, to be truthful.
How could somebody who doesn't care anything about him, know so much??? I don't know Julie, there is something "up" with you???
See a psyciatrist, will you dear.

I presumed you had some basis for offering a diagnosis of senility. In the absence of some credentials, I'll go with Mel, who knows his dad, and states that he not only has all his faculties, but that he has a factual basis for his aberrant opinions.

No, I couldn't care less what Mel says about his dad.

Hutton is a despicable, hateful man.

My opinion, your's may differ.

I do care about Hutton's opinions. Particularly when they get international media attention.

If Mel says nothing, that's his business.

If Mel openly supports pop's opinions as honest or fact based, he's equally deserving of criticism.

"Loyalty" has nothing to do with it.

Perhaps you were thinking of honesty.

If you're speaking of years prior to the film, I've never seen that. Yes, his dad is a dangerous man, and yes, his wife agrees with him. And no, I've seen nothing to indicate he's senile. Aside from Mel's assertation that he's all there, he was perfectly coherant in his radio (as I noted earlier, I made a point of listening) and print interviews. Including less "mainstream" interviews I've both heard and read. His opinions in 2003 were perfectly consistant with everything he's said for at least the last couple decades.

I will disagree with you on two points.

Number 1. His views on the Holoacoast are hateful and dispicable. I totally agree with you. But from everything I have heard about him personally as a man and father, he is supposed to be very loving and kind. You can hold dispicable views, and still be loving to your children. I am not excusing the elder Gibson at all, personally I believe that he is a kook, but again from everything I ever heard of him, all of his family adored him.

Number 2. I still say that Mel Gibson is being loyal to his father. Again, that is my opinion. Your opinion is different, and once again there is something with the Mel Gibson critics that will NOT be satisfied until he jams a knife into his Father's back. I wonder why that is???

You are correct SJackson, there has never been anything prior The Passion about Mel Gibson and his father's beliefs. It was only until The Passion came out that they tried to align him with his father's beliefs.

I dismiss it because of his hateful comments and because of the photos with the young ladies.

So, if Hitler were your father, you would not denounce his terrible beliefs and practices?

That is really a stupid analogy, not fitting of a Dodgers fan. Mel Gibson's father said stupid despicable things, he didn't murder six million human beings.
Now it is you who is making light of the Holocaost.
I would say see you at the series, but I don't think so.

That is incorrect: When the first Lethal Weapon movie came out lots was written about the father's beliefs particularly regarding the Catholic Church and his refusal to recognize the Pope.

So you are still here, posting about the man you are not interested in.
Julie-there coming to take you away, ha ha, there coming to take you away, there coming to take you away. There coming to take away he he, there coming to take you away.
It is all right dear, you can have a nice long rest. You can probably still get in a lot of reading about Mel. Maybe they will put you in with the man who was stalking Mel a few years ago.
You know it is interesting when I dislike a star, such as George Clooney, I can't even stand to see him on T.V., I change the channel immediatley, I don't want to waste a second on him, much less spend hours reading about him as you have obviously done about Mel Gibson. You know more about him than I do. And you have spent hours posting about him. Again, you are obviously so fascinated with him. You need to check yourself in someplace fast and fine out what is going on with you. You need help!!

That’s not what I said. His father's beliefs were known for decades. As was the fact that he was a celebrities son. It became an issue for Mel when he seemingly endorsed, at the very least excused his fathers views. That's entirely proper.

So, if Hitler were your father, you would not denounce his terrible beliefs and practices?... Yes, even Hitler was nice to animals.….That is really a stupid analogy, not fitting of a Dodgers fan. Mel Gibson's father said stupid despicable things, he didn't murder six million human beings….Now it is you who is making light of the Holocaost. …I would say see you at the series, but I don't think so.

Actually, it’s a simple fact, Hitler was fond of animals, particularly his dogs. An example of minimizing the Holocaust would be Hutton, who contends Hitler didn’t murder Jews.

What if we change the question to you would not denounce his terrible beliefs and practices?. We’ll leave the actions out, concentrate on beliefs.

Would you condemn Hutton’s Holocaust denial? Would you condemn the suggestion that Alan Greenspan, Jew financier, be hung.

At the Wannsee conference, and in a party meeting the month before, Hitler suggested the Jews of Europe be exterminated for causing WWI and WWII. Would you condemn the belief that Jews caused WWI and WWII, or all the worlds wars.

If you read my posts, in all most all of them, I have said that what Hutton Gibson said was stupid, and dispicable. I even called him a kook. It goes without saying that I find his beleifs beyond dispicable.
But that still doesn't mean I feel media outlets should be calling the almost 90 year old celebrities of parents. I still believe in something called fairness.

Thank you. Apparently, our "friend" Brigada is still in denial about what a bad character Mel Gibson is. The thought that he is a bigot would tarnish her idealized image of him. On her coins she should write, IN GIBSON WE TRUST. She can deny it all she wants, BUT THE TRUTH WILL SET HER FREE.

"fairness"? Is it fair that Hutton Gibson spreads his poison without reproach from his own family? His second wife certainly shares his beliefs and Mel dodges when pressed for answers. They all spit on the same pot.

Unlike you and your "dream boy" George Clooney, I believe in standing up to bigots and not letting them get away with their poison. You are a party to evil.
