Pleas made for release of 2 journalists
By DIAA HADID, Associated Press Writer 6 minutes ago
A New Zealand envoy and the brother of an American reporter made separate televised pleas Sunday urging militants to release two Fox News journalists kidnapped last week in the Gaza Strip.
American correspondent Steve Centanni, 60, and cameraman Olaf Wiig, 36, of New Zealand were seized Aug. 14 from their TV van near the Palestinian security services headquarters in Gaza City.
The New Zealand envoy, Peter Ridder, spoke outside the office of Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh in Gaza City shortly after the two men met. Ridder said Haniyeh gave him his personal commitment that returning the men safely was a top Palestinian government priority.
"Just like the family, we are very concerned about the safety and security of the hostages, and we are working together to try to secure their safe return," Ridder said.
Asked if he had a message for the abductors, the envoy replied, "Please release these men."
Centanni's brother Ken also appealed for his brother's safety, in comments shown on Fox television then later aired on the Arab satellite TV station, Al-Jazeera.
"Please contact our family," Ken Centanni urged. "Let us know he is alive and unharmed."
Ken LaCorte, a senior Fox News official, also arrived in Gaza on Sunday to press efforts to release the journalists.

Why isn't this kidnapping making more news?
exactly what i was thinking- even fox news itself only has a small blip on it but I guess they don't want to encourage the kidnappers by giving them the spotlight in reward for kidnapping them. I did not know that steve centanni was so old.
Those poor families. I can't even imagine how distraught they must be. Prayerful, bttt.
I have theories. First, because it is Fox news and therefore many other news outlets don't care because they don't believe it is really a news outlet. Second, because Fox itself likes to keep thing fair and balanced, and therefore the news division doesn't believe the world revolves around them.
Therefore, they report it, but don't obsess about it. That said, I'm pretty sure they've decided that everyone must keep the news from Greta.
the more the publicity the more reason to keep them longer and use the kidnapping as a propoganda tool
Yep. Bottom line. The only thing I worry about is that if the kidnappers get NO attention they will up the ante. In any case, prayers for their safe release.
Steve worked at a local Anchorage TV station for several years, this is being followed closely here - if nowhere else.
Hey..!
"I did not know that steve centanni was so old.
Hey..!"
Double Hey! Didn't know I had one foot in the grave.
because liberls celebrated when this happened

The Lamestream Media is probably doing all it can to remain silent. I'm sure their first reaction was akin to that of the Palestinians on 9/11.
Yes, I would say the wise thing is to not give the kidnappers more publicity.
Wanna bet they're already in Syria or Iran ?
Because no one wants to give FOX any publicity. Remember the ABC guy that got blown up. Man they ran with him for 2 weeks straight!
All of the journalist kidnappings up to this point have received more press coverage than the Fox folks are receiving.
This one worries me. It has been too long with no release and no claim of responsibility.
