[history]
Freeper Lingo Reference Thread Every once in a while I see Freeper lingo I don't understand and have to research to figure out the meaning/background.
Today, I thought it would be helpful for newbies (and 'seasoned' Freepers) to have a 'reference' for the lingo specifically related to FR (ie not stuff like LOL etc you can get everywhere else).
My intention is for this thread (and my profile page) to be that reference, in as much as it can be kept reasonably up to date.
I've just started to compile the terms today, so I'm sure there are massive gaps and omissions in the definitions/histories. Please fill them in!
Here's what I have right now:
IBTZ - In Before The Zot - term posted before the troll/disrupter gets booted
Zot - verb, to get kicked off FR in an undignified manner
Mod comment: See Coop's post #52 for correct definition of "Zot"
beeber (beeber like object) - see the thread that started it all: Would like freeper help (apologies to al baby)
stuned - misspelling of stunned - see beeber
hugh - misspelling of huge posted on a thread by an excited freeper.
series - misspelling of serious posted on a thread by an excited freeper.
BIOYAC - Texan freepism - Blow It Out Your A**, Cowboy
shower pictures - from an excited freeper saying they just got out of the shower on a breaking news thread about a possible terror event (it was determined the event was not terror related).
DUmmie (anything DU---) - Democratic Underground troll/disruptor
cowbell pictures - ??
ziggy - ??
spork weasel - ??

Thanks for the info, SW6906. I remember reading most of the story, but didn' t know all the details.
You're heart was in the right place, that's for sure. Kudos anyway, regardless of how it turned out.
Hope this somehow gets put in the FR Lore Book. I hope some creative FReeper will think about getting something started along that line.
Best -- Dave

I don't remember anyone using "series" before I did, but I could be stunned...Well, that IS HUGH!!

Ivan was OK but every time he got PO'd he'd threaten to quit or announce that he's done with FR and get as many FReeper as possible to kiss his arse.I have run into my share of opposition on this board but I never threatened to take my ball and go home.
I've never had a problem with anyone on FR. I'm just secure in my knowledge that this is my world, and you all are just living int it. You're all just figments of my fertile imagination, and I'm sorry to say that when I die, you'll all go "poof" into nothingness. Sorry, I really do wish I could tell you otherwise, but face it. You're all doomed.

Great thread, soccer8. Ya know, if you ask the mod to add the word, Lore, to you header (Like in "Freeper Lingo and Lore) this would be a ideal place to continue putting the FR stories as well. Lingo and Lore kind of go together pretty good. Just an idea to consider. An on-going story book. Not sure if it's been done before. FWIW.

Just trying to plant a humorous misspelling of my own. We'll see if it catches on.
Um, yeah, that's it. I meant to do that.

I've been trying to keep up on the language stuff. I'm not sure I can go that far. However, I have added Buckhead to the lore section of the existing file, which I will post tomorrow.

I've read through Post no. 365, and have enjoyed the nostalgia trip immensely...I started lurking about '98 and signed up in 2000 during the Florida election battle. Saw some FReepers mentioned that I hadn't thought of for ages.
One thing I want to know is, for you Mark Levin fans, what the heck is "FRINK"?

How does Helen Thomas relate to the pic rule?
I thought she was only involved to the extent that some decent female pics were necessary in an attempt to neutralizer her image.

I have always wondered if she signed back up under a different screen name. LOL... Actually, she still posts here under the same name. Fortunately for her, the thread was pulled; though it lives on in legend!

A couple of years ago I was reading through my favorite book, Roget's Thesaurus.
Unbelievably, I came across the word, Clinquant.
"CLINQUANT" -- among the meanings of the word were: "fake, cheat, sham, fraud, phony, imposter".
I always felt that CLINQUANT should be adopted here in the FR Lexicon as the fitting word for the Clintons. It surely fits -- fake, cheat, sham, fraud, phony, imposter.
