[history]
Freeper Lingo Reference Thread Every once in a while I see Freeper lingo I don't understand and have to research to figure out the meaning/background.
Today, I thought it would be helpful for newbies (and 'seasoned' Freepers) to have a 'reference' for the lingo specifically related to FR (ie not stuff like LOL etc you can get everywhere else).
My intention is for this thread (and my profile page) to be that reference, in as much as it can be kept reasonably up to date.
I've just started to compile the terms today, so I'm sure there are massive gaps and omissions in the definitions/histories. Please fill them in!
Here's what I have right now:
IBTZ - In Before The Zot - term posted before the troll/disrupter gets booted
Zot - verb, to get kicked off FR in an undignified manner
Mod comment: See Coop's post #52 for correct definition of "Zot"
beeber (beeber like object) - see the thread that started it all: Would like freeper help (apologies to al baby)
stuned - misspelling of stunned - see beeber
hugh - misspelling of huge posted on a thread by an excited freeper.
series - misspelling of serious posted on a thread by an excited freeper.
BIOYAC - Texan freepism - Blow It Out Your A**, Cowboy
shower pictures - from an excited freeper saying they just got out of the shower on a breaking news thread about a possible terror event (it was determined the event was not terror related).
DUmmie (anything DU---) - Democratic Underground troll/disruptor
cowbell pictures - ??
ziggy - ??
spork weasel - ??

Actually, I'm the original showergirl - What happened was, I'd just got out of the shower, heard there was something going on at BWI Airport and my husband was flying into MIA from there that morning.
I posted that I'd just gotten out of the shower, heard something was going on and asked for updates. Took ribbing for many months over that one.
But hey, if you want to take credit for it!!! Smile!!!
(no I didn't change my nick or go into hiding, I'm still here...grin)

The very first FReepers were the people who posted their "messages" as cave drawings. And, the big debate back then WAS creation versus evolution. The Cro-Magnons said that they were the ones who were created to be mankind. The Neanderthals disputed that, and said, "are we not men?" The debate raged on FR for thousands of years, mainly with links to old FR threads in long-abandoned caves. Incredibly, back then the system had NO TEXT, only graphics! From time to time that necessitated finding a new "hard wall" in another cave to store the messages for the discussion to proceed.

I'm busy repeating the word and meaning of the word to myself; it's a good one to have in one lexicon, BTS.
However, I must quibble with you in a wee way: The Clintons =are= indeed Americans, grown and fostered in the fertile soils of dishonor, grown from bad American policy many years earlier. Do they belie and betray and American dream and its founding Values? YES. Are they ernest? No. Do they lead others astray from time-value virtues? YES. Quibble done.
The values of the Clintons are clinquant.

Funniest thing in the world was when the white House Press Corps gave Cheney a baseball jersey with "Big time" on the back.As I understand it, Bush has a habit of creating knicknames for all the people he has to deal with on a regular basis. After the Clymer incident, Bush started calling his VP "Big Time". Hence, the baseball jersey.
For some reason, I don't remember that one... But, after the Adam Clymer incident, where the President was caught calling Clymer a "major league a$$h*lw," (and Cheney said, "yeah, big time!") and even though the press made such a big deal over it, President Bush never did apologize for calling Clymer "A Clymer."
For some reason, I seem to recall the White House giving the entire press corps baseball jerseys with "Major League As" on the front, and "Big Time" on the back, but when I looked it up, an article said that it was the press corps that got them for Halloween, and they were all wearing Bush masks.
So I'm not really sure how that ended, only that I do remember seeing the press corps wearing those jersies.

I thought "Stune Your Beeber" meant that one were clearing for reception of thought waves through one's metal foil chapeau.
BTW, no one has yet been able to tell me where the metal foil goes, i.e., on the outside of the hat, or does one cover the skull and then don the chapeau?
Should one use aluminum foil, tin foil, lead foil, mU metal, gold, copper, what? My Beeber is Stuned for reply?

I've included the word as it appears to be catching on. However, I expanded the definition. Here's how it will appear:
Clinquant - Used as another term for the Clintons, those of similar character, or expressing such characteristics. Among the meanings of the word were: fake, cheat, sham, fraud, phony, impostor.
