When is it OK for boys to be girls, and girls to be boys? [Schools adjust to boys being girls/etc]

When is it OK for boys to be girls, and girls to be boys?

Many kids want to look and act like the other sex. For some, it's a phase; for others, it's not. Parents and schools are adjusting.

Ilene Lelchuk, Chronicle Staff Writer

Sunday, August 27, 2006

Park Day School is throwing out gender boundaries.

Teachers at the private Oakland elementary school have stopped asking the children to line up according to sex when walking to and from class. They now let boys play girls and girls play boys in skits. And there's a unisex bathroom.

Admissions director Flo Hodes is even a little apologetic that she still balances classes by gender.

Park Day's gender-neutral metamorphosis happened over the past few years, as applications trickled in for kindergartners who didn't fit on either side of the gender line. One girl enrolled as a boy, and there were other children who didn't dress or act in gender-typical ways. Last year the school hired a consultant to help the staff accommodate these new students.

"We had to ask ourselves, what is gender for young children?" Hodes said. "It's coming up more and more."

Park Day's staff members are among a growing number of educators and parents who are acknowledging gender variance in very young children. Aurora School, another private elementary school in Oakland, also is seeing children who are "gender fluid" and hired a clinical psychologist to conduct staff training.

In my neighborhood, the boys practice cheer-leading,and dress like very pretty girls on Halloween.

I can only scratch my head and ask, "when are you leaving that neighborhood?"

While your rant may have some valid points, this school is private. Parents pay very good money for this silliness, and it is silliness, but it is not a public school.

This is in San Fransisco, were there are a whole lot of "gay" families.

I wonder what could have possibly caused all these screwed up children?

Anybody?

Anybody?

My best friend from high school is a Elementary school PE teacher. Going through college in PE was an eye-opening experience for her. Mostly masculine females in that major! She's happily married for 30+ years herself.

This is a private school.

And save the rant for the creo threads. That's where there are folks who would be happy to point out your fallacies and refute your misconceptions.

FWIW, Darwin thought God created the universe, did not choose or agree with the term "survival of the fittest" and was a firm abolitionist.
Selective breeding, which was Hitler's and Sanger's milieu, came way before Darwin.
And Hitler was influenced mostly by Karl Lueger, anti-semitic leader of the Christian Social Party in Austria.

Blaming Darwin for Columbine is simply too ridiculous.

Why not? I agreed with much of it--just pointed out that in this case, this bit of silliness is at a private school.

About the only private schools that are consistently good are the Catholic ones--not every school in every case, but overall, pretty good places to get an education.

Kind of knocked my sister off her axis ;-)

My father was a high school champion athlete who had 5 daughters and no sons, so he encouraged any of his daughters who had any athletic ability to pursue it (it was the best he could do given what he had to work with, and baby sister had plenty - came within a hair's breadth of being state champ).

She came to the same realization your friend did, too bad.

While I did move from Pa to Florida in 81, (and it is a real sea change in everything) I still own property in Pa, and in fact, I am vacationing there right now.

Right next to Valley Forge. - I am dismayed at how poorly Pa now stacks up vis a vie most of Florida; how much it has slid to the left.

Still, a boy en fem would be quite an oddity here.

Where are you? Keep up the fight. We need you.

How about this.... At Ross N Robinson Middle School the school year began with gender segregated classes. Boys in together and girls in together. The experiment is hoped to eliminate the distraction where boys and girls sit side by side.

Just because it is a private school, and stupid "can't grasp the difference between what you feel and what is real" parents, are paying for it, DOES NOT MAKE IT ACCEPTABLE! It is child abuse,a nd the place should be shut down, and the parents arrested.

One thing this teacher said that stuck in my mind was at rest time. Girls always play with each others hair so when they sit on the mats for nap or rest teach would encourage the boys to play with each others hair.

She was bragging about how educated she was and how she taught teachers to teach crap like this.

Instead of that, why don't they have the girls learn to make obnoxius noises with their armpits, like boys do? Why the emphasis on making boys more like girls and not girls more like boys? Sounds like discrimination to me.

What needs to be asked is why is this happening? and what can be done to stop it.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&7

It is happening because liberals have government education by the neck.

What can be done about it?

Answer: See that government schooling completely disappears.

How: Government schools need two things: Students and money.

Parents must remove their children from government schools. Make whatever sacrifice necessary to make this happen. Then go to the polls and vote NO to government school money. Rally your neighbors to vote no to school spending. Campaign for candidates that favor privatization of universal K-12 education.

This particular school is private, but I bet that 99% of its principal, board of directors, teachers, and parents are government schooled.

The liberal government school indoctrination has won. Their graduates are producing private versions in their private schools.

If you possibly can, homeschool.

I understand your concerns about public schools. That is the main reason we moved from the inner-city to a rural area. What a DIFFERENCE! The public schools are great in our little town. I know, because I am in them volunteering every week.

The day starts with the Pledge of Allegiance and singing God Bless America. The first time I experienced this, at the back of the classroom, I shed a few happy tears, because this kind of stuff was still alive in this country I love.

I'm a city person, convenience-wise, but moving out to the hinterlands was the best thing we have ever done.

BTW, my son will be entering 4th grade, and he's reading at 8th grade level. He's surrounded by books and a mother that loves to read, so go figure.

Last night I watch an episode of that show where the mothers switch spots and go into another house. Well one family had 8 children and this wealthy women had to homeschool. She was shocked that homeschool children only go to school for three hours a day. I was disappointed that the show was very negative towards the homeshooling. It made the other family greatful that they did not homeschool. They also emphasized how they did not communicate with people because they were homeschooled. There is alot of misconseptions about homeschooling. I am not completely sold on the idea, but I am an ex-basher because of FREEPERS.

We have basically neutered men and any sort of masculinity is considered barbarian. I have 3 boys, and they are boys through and through. They hunt, fish, play sports, ride dirtbikes, they come home dirty and smelly, wrestle eachother and fight like cats and dogs. I love every minute of it. They have a wonderful father and very strong true MALE role models around them. I think my husband would have me locked away in a mental institution if I let my guys wear nail polish.

"Wife Swap" often features homeschool families swapping with other families. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why anyone would agree to leave their family for two weeks to live in a stranger's house for a TV show. Or to let a stranger come and live in their house with their kids. But, I guess the camera crew is always there, so they figure it's safe.

Warren Throckmorton, an associate professor of psychology at Grove City College in Pennsylvania known for his work in the so-called ex-gay movement, agrees that some gender-variant children could be redirected to their birth sex.

nice to see such a blatant jab at a very healthy and helpful so called movement. We cant believe in exgays can we? that would mean that their is a way out. and that of course would cause people to take responsibility for their actions. Responsibility, eww we libs hate that.

Stating that I am being "simply too ridiculous" appears to me to be an initial firing volley of insult from someone who seems to be rather sensitive to perceived insult themselves. In other words, YOU started it.

None of what I stated is ridiculous. Evolution THEORY is the height of the idea of triumph of the fittest, from primordial slime one-cell organisms up. Sanger and Hitler meant well, helping rid the earth of the "weak and useless eaters" - but, as we know, man's best intentions pave the road straight to Hell.

I suffered personally because of Hitler, as did a lot of people, so I can see more clearly than a lot of people.

And Hitler was mainly influenced by the antisemitic Karl Lueger. And selective breeding, which was what Hitler and Sanger were about, was prominent WAY before Darwin came around.

Darwin was the absolute darling of Germany and not in the least unknown by the ubiquitous Hitler. Darwin was delighted that his THEORY had been so advanced in that country. Anyone who thinks Darwin's theory didn't play a part in the phenomenon that Germany morphed into is deceived. . and I don't say "phenomenon" in a good way!

As I said, Hitler and Sanger merely wanted to hurry along the NATURAL SELECTION aspect of evolution that would normally take millions of years (in their estimation) along by means of ARTIFICIAL SELECTION - only they played God by making the "selection" part of both THEIR personal choices of just who needed to be deleted from the gene pool.

The blood splattered tee shirt of one of the Columbine murderers was emblazoned with the words "NATURAL SELECTION". Guess he should have had the words "ARTIFICIAL SELECTION" describing his decision that his classmates and teachers were the "useless eaters" who needed to be eliminated from the gene pool. But, oh well, as they say "A Skunk By Any Other Name 'Twould Stink Just As Bad".

Oh, yeah, I understand alright.

Wisdom shouts in "the marketplace" to those who will listen.

There is no goal in ToE. You don't "help it along." They had the idea of what they wanted humans to be, and it was based on their own prejudices, not science. And Plato advocated eugenics centuries before Darwin existed.

Darwin was delighted that his THEORY had been so advanced in that country.

Show me a source that describes Darwin's delilght, please.

Anyone who thinks Darwin's theory didn't play a part in the phenomenon that Germany morphed into is deceived. . and I don't say "phenomenon" in a good way!

Eugenics is not an adjunct of ToE. And Hitler was mainly influenced by Karl Lueger leader of the Christian Social Party. So he was influenced by a lot of people. He was wrong about evolution, just as he was wrong about Christianity.

BESIDES -- Hitler is responsible for his crimes. And even if Hitler knew what he was talking about when it comes to ToE, he does NOT invalidate the science. That is a fallacy.

From Darwin's own personal papers, written in Darwin's own hand he expresses his pleasure with the advancement of his theory in Germany. Darwin was even more verbose than many of us on FR; he thought he had it all figgered out. So, did someone say Darwin believed in God? So do the devils believe in God, they know about Him as a fact . . and tremble.

You "help" evolution along if you think you can and think you have the moral high ground to do it. . that is, when "science, so-called" is your god.

In the archaeological strata where one would expect to find gradual minor, changes within types of mammals, what is found rather is macro changes rather than the micro changes one would expect to find in order to help support the theory of evolution as anything more than the musings of men who were wise in their own eyes.

Once, creation was at least given a nod in the public school system in this country. Now, freedom of speech is free only to those who spout the theory of evolution as fact set in stone. The "theory" of anything else is a twice-burned book in this country, as are just about anything that doesn't fall in line with the godless liberal agenda in America and the world.

Maybe Darwin had no conscious goal in the theory - except his own recognition, a weakness we humans have to our downfall. Darwin was just another cog in the wheel of a plan he wasn't smart enough to recognize at the time.

Shoot. Evolutionists can find a pig's tooth and create and whole "missing link" around it out of plaster, complete with drawings of the supposed missing link civilization to illustrate it.
A whole species out of whole cloth.
I was created by God, in the image of God. I used to think very little about how God went about it and didn't care how he accomplished it . . then, in a burst of light, I realized that He did it exactly the way He said he did it, and I'm going to hang my life on believing Him.

I'm not an ape's great-grandchild. If anyone chooses to consider themselves an ape's great-grandchild, then that is their prerogative. The Scripture says that there is one kind of flesh to animals and another kind of flesh to man - as anyone can see if they look closely.

Show me the quote. Or give me a cite.

So, did someone say Darwin believed in God? So do the devils believe in God, they know about Him as a fact . . and tremble.

Darwin believed God created the universe and the first life forms. He was not a devil.

You "help" evolution along if you think you can and think you have the moral high ground to do it. . that is, when "science, so-called" is your god.

There is no "goal" of evolution to help it along to. Evolution means change, not progress. You see a teleological end that doesn't exist.

Once, creation was at least given a nod in the public school system in this country. Now, freedom of speech is free only to those who spout the theory of evolution as fact set in stone.

I don't have a problem with creationism being taught, but it isn't a part of science. It is a philosophy.

The "theory" of anything else is a twice-burned book in this country, as are just about anything that doesn't fall in line with the godless liberal agenda in America and the world.

There is no competing scientific theory for the explanation of the diversity of life.

Maybe Darwin had no conscious goal in the theory - except his own recognition, a weakness we humans have to our downfall.

I have no idea what you are saying here.

Evolutionists can find a pig's tooth and create and whole "missing link" around it out of plaster, complete with drawings of the supposed missing link civilization to illustrate it.

"Nebraska Man" (the pig's tooth) was never considered a "missing link", was debunked within 10 years of being found, and if it were true, would have actually disproven ToE. In fact, that was the main reason for the skeptical attitude many scientists had when they heard of the "discovery", because it didn't fit the theory of the evolution of man. It is only trotted out today by creationists desperate to attack the theory. Scientists aren't perfect, but the mistakes do get found by other scientists, not by outside critics.

Oh and those drawings you mention? They were made by a journalist. You know, a member the MSM? Everyone knows how intelligent they are.

I was created by God, in the image of God

Does that mean that you believe God has a body? Please answer, this is important.

I used to think very little about how God went about it and didn't care how he accomplished it . . then, in a burst of light, I realized that He did it exactly the way He said he did it, and I'm going to hang my life on believing Him.

You mean, the way you interpret the Bible. Not everyone agrees. It is also your faith that the Bible is God's word. Not everyone agrees with that, either.

I'm not an ape's great-grandchild. If anyone chooses to consider themselves an ape's great-grandchild, then that is their prerogative.

I'm not either. No human is. And all flesh is made of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. All flesh will die and degrade. There is nothing special about our flesh. This world will die and degrade. That is the nature of the physical.

Sir Isaac Newton was a genius, not just someone who thought he was a genius - and he honored the Word of God, and was smart enough to take it literally and study and write more words about it than probably most anyone ever has. When he was old, he proved his genius by recognizing that even with all his scientific brilliance he was still only like a little boy sitting on the seashore and wondering at the vastness of the ocean and the wisdom of the Creator.

Science and the Theory of Evolution offer us nothing of any lasting value in eternity, for as you said, the physical realm is all to burn up anyway. So, all the written and spoken words, arguments and doubtful disputatons will disintegrate when the Creator drops the final curtain, which may be soon. We have been living in the Last Days for the past two days; well, that's in time as God reckons it, to us that's 2,000 yrs. since Christ ascended to His Father.

"Likewise, I say unto you there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth."
Luke 15:10
