CBS To Air Profanity-Laden Program (Complaint About "9/11" Documentary)
American Family Association ^ | August 2006 | n/a

Posted on 08/28/2006 7:22:45 PM PDT by Pyro7480

Not content with all the profanity already on TV, CBS has decided to air the profanity-laden unedited version of "9/11" on Sept. 10. The decision by CBS is a slap in the face to the FCC and Congress, which recently raised indecency fines to $325,000 per incident.

"9/11," which will be shown in prime-time, contains a tremendous amount of hardcore profanity. CBS has stated they have not, and will not, make any cuts in the amount and degree of profanity. CBS will ignore the law. The network is suing the FCC over the indecency law, saying they should be able to show whatever they desire whenever they desire. CBS wants no limits.

This is a test case for CBS to see how far they can go. If there is no out-pouring of complaints from the public, they will go further the next time.

So, 3000 people are killed: No problem with showing that.

People are shocked and cuss/swear in response: Oh, you must censor that.

odd, that is just odd.

"I hope the FCC fines the hell out of CBS. This is just another "camel-nose in the tent" tactic by CBS to try to get more profanity onto the public airwaves."

Surely you are joking. Do you think they should not show the documentary?

"Oh please. This documentary is one of the most powerful pieces of work I have ever seen in my life. Everyone should be required to see it. If the profanity in it offends you, deal with it. Life sucks, wear a helmet."

So you are all for children learning any and all language that is aired on broadcast tv?

Is this videotape of 9/11 actual events or is it a recreation?

I'm just glad they are playing anything about 9/11, wordy dirds or not. It's been 5 years of the dinosaur media trying to get us to forget about all that unpleasantness and go back to sleep.

I could not agree with you more. Good for CBS, this should get more viewers since it will be on CBS and not one of the cable channels (History etc.)

If you're a parent, you must ACT like one. If you know it's being aired, you must be PROACTIVE.

This is actual events.

This has the only footage of the first plane hitting the towers.

It's an incredibly powerful documentary and everyone should watch it.

Oh come on get a life. There's hardly a show on tv that doesn't use profanity for the sake of using profanity, and in the case of this show editing the REAL language to emphasize the honest feelings of what was going on is ridiculous !!!

It's very real. Just by chance two French journalists were doing a documentary with a crew of fire fighters, and it shows everything from the night before, and when it happened. It even has footage of the first impact while a fireman was out investigating a gas leak near the WTC. There was also allot of footage from inside the WTC while it was all going on. The thing that got to me the worst was the sound of bodies crashing on the roof of where the firemen were in the lobby. The whole thing is VERY intense, it's like being there.

I don't remember making any comment to that effect. If it's so important to CBS to leave all the profanity in, then they should be willing to pay the fines. What's so hard about that? Let them put their money where their mouth is.

After the initial airing, I went out and bought the DVD. I don't want to forget and I definitely don't want to see a cleaned up, girlyman version of 9-11. Send the kids to bed or use the remote. Islam's actions on 9-11 were profane. It shouldn't be sugar-coated.

And what about the parents that do not know about this airing?

If it accurately portrays the horror I have no problem with this at all.

They should show it, unedited.
If you have ever had a rocket fired at you, there's a good chance
someone in your crowd yelled "HOLY @&#K".

Sorry folks that's the way it is.
After they show it, CBS should be fined 10 times what they booked in advertising.

I'm all for the parents ability to turn the channel, or having the children get the hell out of the room. I'd say that's allot better than government regulation. I always send the kids to bed before I watch South Park. =)

The AFA seems to have a certain amount of misplaced indignation. While some times they go after a good legit target (Ford's big $$$ donations towards homosexual advocacy) other times I think they take away power from parents and dilute personal responsibility by seeming to insist that all television be suitable for small children.

Given that it's real and a clearly non-contrived actual and important event, I'd say to go ahead and broadcast it.

Not everything needs to be shown raw just because it's real. Not everything is important, and many "real" things are contrived.
