'TALK TO IRAN'? IT ALWAYS FAILS
NY Post ^ | August 31, 2006 | Amir Taheri

'TALK to Iran!" The phrase has become a mantra for all who fear the Kho meinist regime but are equally scared of challenging it. The idea of talks is based on the assumption that every problem must have a solution - all we need to do is look for it.

Most people find unbearable the idea that a problem might defy solution in a given timeframe. Yet life, including international life, is full of problems that lack ready-made solutions at the time of our choosing. Thus, by recommending talks, we cling to the hope that the process might somehow produce a miracle.

The "Talk to Iran" party pretends that it has struck gold with an original thought. Yet this banal idea has been in circulation for a quarter of a century. President Jimmy Carter thought of it in January 1979, a month before the mullahs seized power in Tehran, when he established contact with the late Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, then operating from a Paris suburb.

Once the mullahs were in control, the administration intensified the talks via the embassy in Tehran. Bruce Laingen, the charge d'affaire and a sincere supporter of the revolution, was a daily visitor to the foreign ministry. Six months after the establishment of the Islamic Republic, National Security Adviser Zbigniew Bzrezinski held a "summit" with Mehdi Bazargan, Khomeini's prime minister, to discuss a "strategic partnership."

The process ended when Khomeinist "students" raided the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and took its diplomats hostage, Laingen among them.

Since then, all U.S. administrations, except the present one, have maintained some level of talks, often behind the scenes, with Tehran's leadership. Yet none managed to influence the Khomeinist strategy in any way

Iran has been bad since 1979 - 27 years of sowing discord and supporting terrorists. Time's up.

Great UN Diplomacy on parade! Maybe the UN could bring Jimmy (all-his-fault) Carter in there to ask Iran once again, only nicely this time.

Can't talk to the Iranian government, but I have yet to meet an Iranian that you couldn't talk to.

I think they are a reasonable people under an unreasonable government.

"The idea of talks is based on the assumption that every problem must have a solution - all we need to do is look for it."

That is true, but in this case the solution is military intervention......raw power is all the Islamofacists understand and respect....

Unfortunately, I believe they feel like Germany at the outbreak of WWII, invincible and morally correct.....

A few well applied but limited strikes will not change that nor diminish their capacity enough to deter, the strikes planned must be massive. Total destruction for their command and control and all offensive capability. Of course, can't forget their nuclear industry.

That begs two questions then:
1. Why did they elect this guy?
2. Why have we not assassinated him?

Not only does Tahiri spell it out for all the ostriches here and abroad, he's also Iranian and knows exactly how these mullahs think.

But some people will refuse to accept any danger.

All we have to do is compromise with the Muslims. After all they are peace-loving just like us. All we have to do is give in on a few points and we would have peace. NO BIG DEAL !
First, since muslims believe homosexuality is a crime, all we have to do is agree with them and make homosexuality a crime, punishable by death. NO BIG DEAL,right? Secondly, muslims believe and insist that women are third class citizens, who should be subjugated and treated as chattel. So we just do as they say, don't let women vote anymore, don't let them go to school, kill them if they are not virgins before marriage, promote female clitoral castration to reduce the sex drive, and deny them divorce and property rights. Its what Allah commands. NO BIG DEAL, RIGHT?. Thirdly, let them annihilate the jews. Its only a tiny country anyways, and then we would have peace. ITS NO BIG DEAL, Right????? So all you Jews, Gays and Females, think about it. Its your reward, and its NO BIG DEAL !!!!!
