New poll says most Canadians blame U.S. for 9/11 attacks

A majority of Canadians believe U.S. foreign policy was one of the root causes that led to the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, and Quebecers are quicker to criticize the U.S. administration for its international actions than other Canadians, a recent poll suggests.

Those conclusions are found in a newly released poll conducted by Léger Marketing for the Association for Canadian Studies.

The poll suggests that 77 per cent of Quebecers polled primarily blame American foreign policy for the Sept. 11 attacks. The results suggest 57 per cent in Ontario hold a similar view.

Canadian opinions have hardened against the United States and its role on the world stage, said Jack Jedwab, executive director of the Association for Canadian Studies. The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have contributed to a change of heart among people, he said.

This is why Canada will always be a third-rate country. A more soft-headed bunch of ignorant wannabes, who resent the great nation that gives them their economy and protection, you'll never see. They can take their precious lumber tariffs and cram them where their moose-snouted "companions" usually go when they're looking for love.

If you really believe this, why would you trade with us and take our money? Jerks.

I do hate some of my fellow citizens sometimes.

Those attacks against innocent people from all over the world were not provoked by the USA.

This is like saying the survivor of a rape should somehow be blamed for the rape instead of the perp.

Cowards, just like the French. Geo-political penis envy, just like the French, but then the French at least got the USSR to pretend they mattered, just to piss us off.

Canada and the US need a Pinochet. I'm not joking, this liberal, suicidal, self-destructive crap has got to stop.

I have to wonder how many Saskatchewan farmers or Alberta oil drillers were asked. Let's not forget that Canada has perfected the art of omission in the fields of elections and polling.

To an extent they are right. If it weren't for the failed foreign policy practiced in the 1990's, 9/11 would have never happened.

"primarily blame American foreign policy for the Sept. 11 attacks"

Does anyone know what specific policies prior to 2001 we had that canadians say caused the attacks?

I too believe our foreign policy led to 9/11. In fact any right minded person would see that we didn't take the threat seriously enough before 911.

The Iraq War, started in 2003, obviously prompted the attacks on 9/11/2001.
