democracy reveres individual freedoms

Actually democracy is "mob rule". It's the opposite of "individual".

A representative republic based on a rule of law to protect the individual from the mob is the preference of most educated adults. Too bad government schools don't teach this.

....."Actually democracy is "mob rule". ".........

Thank you for pointing this out. That makes two of us. I get so sick of having to "teach" supposedly educated people that we are not a democracy and don't want to be and never have. The media spews this garbage out daily to confuse the republic into thinking they are something they are not.( tell the same lie often enough and it becomes the truth.)

When someone calls the US a democracy, it's almost like finger nails on a blackboard for me. This is what caused the confusion over Dubya winning Florida and the election even if he lost the popular vote to Gore. We are NOT a democracy and thank God for it. We have laws and elect representatives for our government. If it were a democracy, we could vote on everything and change anything by the whim of the mob. The people don't seem to understand the frightening part of that. Sometimes the "right thing" isn't popular.
