Because he knew what the heck was going on... and left because no one was doing anything about it. He was essentially hung out to dry by the CIA.

Our right to practice Christianity and Judaism without being killed.

^^^^

So only Christians and Jews are fighting this war? So only Christians and Jews will prevail? I don't think so. We are fighting for Freedom to live as we choose, and for the Rule of Law, instead of Sharia. That is not religious, that is political! (On our side) We are fighting fanatics who have a perverted view of the world, but we are not fighting FOR any religion.

Because O'Neill had known since 1993 that the jihadists would be back and repeatedly warned anyone who would listen to that fact.

They are killing non-believers. That makes it religious.

Cool! We got Hekmatyar! We've been trying to get him since the invasion in 2001. He didn't want to play ball with us back in the Soviet days. Lots of bad blood between him and the Agency. There was a chance, early on in the war, to bribe him over to our side (Afghans being for rent, of course...), but between his high bid price, his insistence on control of vast regions of opium poppy and a cut of the proceeds, and his dabbling in the affairs of Qaeda, CIA decided not to let bygones be bygones.

Still, don't be surprised if an Afghan guard is paid a steep bribe to allow him to escape. Of course, if we captured him, it's hellooooo Club Gitmo!. Still, he could tell us much about bin Laden and his wherabouts. I'm sure there have to be some imaginative people in the Agency willing to set him up in Los Angeles with a steep bribe, a California trophy wife, and his very own import/export business.

Perhaps he could deal in Persian Rugs, or small armaments.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

After waiting a couple of weeks for North Korea to clean up, Albright was finally allowed in...... and the rest is history - or should be.......

CNN
"Albright in historic meeting with North Korea's Kim Jong Il

Albright is greeted by Kim Jong Il on Monday in Pyongyang

Web posted at: 6:38 p.m. HKT (1038 GMT)

PYONGYANG, North Korea (AP) -- U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright held unprecedented talks today with North Korea's leader, Kim Jong Il, as she began laying the groundwork for a visit by President Clinton to one of the last bastions of the Cold War.

With a firm handshake, Albright and Kim moved their two nations -- longtime adversaries -- a bit closer".

That was so successful-not that the dems want talks to continue and continue and continue. I thought the exposing of Albright last night was good - fact was I'm surprised at the negative portrayal of clinton and his Adm.

And btw clinton never made the trip same as the trip planned into Iran 1999-2000.

clinton's legacy is - he makes Jimmy Carter look good.

Sometimes, you just *know*.
