Our President rocks! both pollyanaish and always conservative have got it spot on. He is determined to communicate the facts to the people. He is the only one who can do this and I'm so very proud of him and his efforts. As a native Texan W rules!

To steal from the Dixie Chicks:

We're ashamed Lindsay Graham is from South Carolina.

"HEADS UP: Rush reporting: 1,000 lawyers represent 144 prisoners with 18,000 letters in and out of Gitmo every year. No one can look inside the letters."

Peach, I haven't read the entire thread and may be repeating information you have already posted.  The source of the statement you mentioned is at Rush's site

A DEADLY KINDNESS  At Gitmo, PC Rules Let Qaedas Plot On   New York Post by Richard Miniter  9-15-06

Excerpt:

Other cells pass messages from leaders in one camp to followers in others. How? Detainees use the envelopes sent to them by their attorneys to pass messages. (Some 1,000 lawyers represent 440 prisoners, all on a pro bono basis, with more than 18,500 letters in and out of Gitmo in the past year.) Guards are not allowed to look inside these envelopes because of "attorney-client privilege" - even if they know the document inside is an Arabic-language note written by a prisoner to another prisoner and not a letter to or from a lawyer.

That's right: Accidentally or not, American lawyers are helping al Qaeda prisoners continue to plot.

I'm going to steal that NordP.
I'm going to steal it, and use it, over and over again.
I'm going to wear it on my t-shirt, and post it on my website.

I hope you're not mad at me.

NordP, Flora is my webmaster.
She makes my posts look really good, like I know what I'm doing.

Quite the contrary! I'm SO glad you like it!!!

Most were on W's 2004 platform. Too bad he's not getting credit for them, by actually saying this out loud in speeches...or having the Senators read it--and refer back to it, frequently! :-)

Sorry about the wrong post number!

You made my day!--That post, and a newly filled out Republican Voter Registration form for someone that just moved into your neighborhood ---is GOLD! ;-) Let's Roll!

Thanks for the link! This was one that, as I read it, I knew it was going into my archives...

Pres. Bush may slip on grammar here and there, but, can you imagine Clinton taking this approach: "Maybe it's not the politically expedient thing to do, is to increase troops coming into an election, but we just can't -- you can't make decisions based upon politics about how to win a war."

I've been sitting here 15 minutes and any comment I can think to make seems inadequate!

You're right, of course. The simple truth of what he says is profound, because it takes a courageous person to say it when it counts. We have the right president at a difficult time for the nation and the world. Thank you.
