Tyron Garner, one of two plaintiffs in the Supreme Court case in 2003 that overruled a Texas sodomy law in the broadest possible terms, effectively making homosexual relations a basic civil right, died Monday in Houston. He was 39.

The cause was complications of meningitis, said his brother Darrell.

"Be who you are." Take untold risks with your life and the lives of everyone with whom you come in contact. You could die prematurely from disease or maybe even be beaten to death in a case that was never solved. But you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you did it all your way.

"was complications of meningitis"

Complications of men-in-anus more likely!

Good thing the taxpayer did not have to foot the bill for his incarceration and health care.

Meningitus after contracting HIV?

Notice how all the people who are gay and die from AIDS never die from AIDS. It's always pnuemonia, viral infection, etc...

From a purely medical standpoint, it ain't the AIDS that kills them.

The government has no business telling 2 guys what they can't do in their own house.

Nor do they have any business telling me how many guns I can have in my own house.

Well that is about the full life expectancy of a homosexual male. He lived a full life according to statistics.

Nor should I have to pay taxes for their medical treatment.

Re your post 4, I'm no physician but that could be true. I understand, for example, that cancer weakens your immune system to the extent that other things (such as pneumonia) get you.

But I could be wrong. Just throwing that out there.

It seems like such a wretched life, doesn't it?

But the Supreme Court went way too far in Lawrence v. Texas.

They should have simply ruled that the Texas law is unconstitutional because it does not apply to the entire population. So either it is changed to cover everyone or it covers no one.

Instead they went into the bogus “right to privacy” and the long dead “substantive due process” theory.

My brother-in-law died at age 8. He had been diagnosed with leukemia 3 years earlier, but he died of pneumonia. It's just the way it is.

By the way, he died long before I met my husband. Kids now have a much better shot than they did in the early 70's.

Just amazing how young this man was. How sad. What a risk they take. Even if they don't get aids, the exposure to everything else gradually nukes your immunity. They have such a high rate of premature death. That's never reported.

I realize that, but from a purely medical standpoint, 99.9% of all deaths are from the heart stopping too. That doesn't mean something didn't CAUSE the heart to stop.

I wonder if it was VIRAL meningitis? Ya know, something the immune system would have had a chance to fight?

I'll agree. What two consenting adults do in the (expected) privacy of ones own home is their business.

Just as what goes on in (and should be around) my home is mine.

"Notice how all the people who are gay and die from AIDS never die from AIDS. It's always pnuemonia, viral infection, etc..."

That's because AIDS prevents the body's immune system from fighting off an opportunistic infection. It's the opportunistic infection that kills the person.

I understand the medical REASON why it's not AIDS that actually kills them. My point is that noone ever admits that it is an illness that killed them BECAUSE they have AIDS and cannot fight infection.
