Has Bush even given his speech yet?
Talking about the same rhetoric--just what have we been hearing from the demoncrazies since November 2000? Same old, tiresome rhetoric.
Five years ago, Afghanistan was ruled by the brutal Taliban regime, and its seat in this body was contested. That's the truth. Those nations now are represented by freely elected governments and are eons ahead in terms of personal liberty for their people, then they were five years ago before Bush led us on this course.
Now this seat is held by the freely elected government of Afghanistan, which is represented today by President Karzai.
Five years ago, Iraq's seat in this body was held by a dictator who killed his citizens, invaded his neighbors and showed his contempt for the world by defying more than a dozen U.N. Security Council resolutions.
Now Iraq's seat is held by a democratic government that embodies the aspirations of the Iraq people. It is represented today by President Talabani.
With these changes, more than 50 million people have been give an voice in this chamber for the first time in decades.
It galls the liberals and naysayers like Dean that this is so...to the point of them almost Biblically knashing their teeth. They refuse to admit it...they hate the truth of it...but it is the truth nonetheless.
Reality Check Mr. Dean:
Today we heard more of the same rhetoric from a desperate Democratic Party who is worried more about their party's political prospects this November than about how to protect America and fight and win the real war on terror. The Democrats hate Bush agenda has replaced any attempts to come together and unite and stand solid for America. The Bush Administration's policies, including the handling of the Iraq War, have helped America's security around the world and at home. After invading Iraq even without UN support, President Bush finds there are a lot of UN member countries that are pussies, bowed down by these islamofascists and fear of standing up for freedom and democracy. President Bush and the Republicans' should not care about our credibility with other nations, because their first goal is making America and the world more safe by fighting terrorists at their homes, and not ours.
All the while, Democrats everywhere have shrilled that the president's agenda has failed and they have repeatedly blocked attempts to keep our country safe. Americans are wanting leadership and security in America's foreign policy that's both tough and smart and the Democrats have proven, they just don't have what it takes.
I expect you're right - the speech was likely written before Bush stepped up to the podium. If the President were to claim the sky was blue, Democrats would say he was lying; it's really white or gray, and polluted besides, and this is just a ploy to distract the American people from his Administrations' failed policies and incompetence and why didn't we consult our allies and .... blah...blah....blah....
The delivery of form letters must have arrived.
Boilerplate rubberstamped by the DNC.
"In the November elections, Allahwilling, the stomachs of these elephant-worshippers will burn in hell from the force of the Democratic jihad. YYYYEEEAAARRRGGGHHH!!!!"
"He is such a magnificent putz."
Where is that George C Scott picture when you need it?
DEAN YOU MAGNIFICENT PUTZ!
The Democrat undermining operation must be running three shifts these days.
Remember the days when politics stopped at the waters edge. If anything, that is what is weakening our voice in the world.
Paging John Boehner...
It is common practice in DC to hand out copies of speeches to congress before a speech is given. These copies are pretty accurate unless there are last minute changes.
That is why we now get responses within seconds, sometimes before a speech is actually given.
Deanamaniac is one of the prime motivations for the
Repubs to get out the vote..and cream the nitwits with
alacrity. If the RNC has any brains..they will show
this crackpot and his screaming diatribe...with the back
ground of our nominee....casually saying: I hope he gets
professional help SAP.... Jake
Almost astonishingly, unbelievably un-American.
Howard would have listed their specific attempts, but .... well ... er .... he ran out of paper? Yeah, that's it ... he ran out of paper.
Ahmadinejad is adding Dean's comments to his speech, I'm sure.
"same rhetoric from a desperate President Bush who is worried more about his party's political prospects this November than about how to protect America and fight and win the real war on terror."
No, Howard. I think you're confusing Bush with yourself.
Could you imagine just 20 or 30 years ago if the opposition party would have criticized a President's UN Speech like that? Whatever happened to politics stopping at the water's edge?
More like one of his aides fed the key phrases (i.e. "rubberstamp Republican Congress") into one of those speech generator applications before Bush gave the speech.
