RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- A noted political scientist joined one of Sen. George Allen's former college football teammates in claiming the senator used a racial slur to refer to blacks in the early 1970s, a claim Allen dismisses as ''ludicrously false.''
Larry J. Sabato, one of Virginia's most-quoted political science professors and a classmate of Allen's in the early 1970s, said in a televised interview Monday that Allen used the epithet.
Sabato's assertion came on the heels of accusations by Dr. Ken Shelton, a radiologist who was a tight end and wide receiver for the University of Virginia in the early 1970s when Allen was quarterback. He said Allen not only used the n-word frequently but also once stuffed a severed deer head into a black family's mailbox.

I totally agree, but would love to find some unPC thing done by Larry to make him have to answer for. My thinking is the Professor is ripe for a learning experience.
I actually disagree with that - if you want my take, check out this post on another thread:
This is all about keeping black voters on the Democrat plantation. If they lose the black vote, they have no chance of winning anything anymore. If they can't prove those Republicans are racists, they'll just make stuff up! They'll keep voting for Democrats even though they aren't doing a damn thing to deserve their votes.
That is absolutely true - IMHO, that's always their general strategy. The specific strategy is to blow up Allen by any means necessary.
It's also probably designed to get to black voters in the D.C. suburbs in Maryland who are thinking about voting for Mike Steele.
I agree with that as well - Steele is a real threat to their lies.
The one-sidedness of it so transparent. Yet the MSM has not one standard, but two.
Heck. At my private school in Richmond, VA, there was a smoking bench outside the high school building. This was for students who were of age, which was 16, I believe.
Howard Cosell called Washington Redskins player Alvin Garrett a "little monkey" during a Monday Night Football game. The Washington Redskins were once coached coached by....George Allen's FATHER who was also named...GEORGE. Just like the current President
I don't think we need this sort of thing in the Senate
Gee, I can't help but wonder why Old Media finds it relevant what Allen may or may not have uttered over 30 years ago, yet completely ignored the fact that John Kerry participated in a vote over 30 years ago on whether or not to assassinate seven United States senators.
[First they said he is a JEW! Now they say he is a racist, next they will say he is GAY. In the future they will say he is an ALIEN from outer space. The Dems and Webb must be losing the campaign.]
Lol, yep. As other various FReepers have stated, the Dims are afraid of Allen and want to knock him out in the first round. Also, as previously stated, why now?? Allen has had a long political career. One would think that these "upright citizens" would have come forth long ago. Unless, of course, they're lying.
Of course keeping in mind that what is today considered a "racial slurr" was often the "standard" terminology used in the Early 70's
With all due respect, that's a crock. Standard terminology for racist morons, maybe. I was a teen in the early 70's, and knew full well that the so-called 'n' word was used by people with their heads up their a$$es.
Who gives a rat's ass what he did in the 70's. What has he done since he's been in office is the important thing. It's double standards always with the Dems. And if they can't win on the issues, they have to go back 30-40 years. This sounds like the work of that smurf weasel dirt-digger Chris Lehane.
And I charge Senator George Allen with the crime of poaching!
Duke Of Nottingham
Probably for snitching on his fellow students.
I am from Virginia--more rural Virginia--and even there so many ages ago, we knew better than to say the "N" word. I grew up knowing that it was a very derisive racial slur and it was never, ever in my vocabulary. That was not the case with my parent's generation. And I just can't imagine someone finding a deer's head like this without reporting it to the authorities.
I certainly intend on voting for him, at least at this point and if I have the opportunity!
From the US Consitution...
No person shall be a Senator who shall not have attained to the age of thirty years, and been nine years a citizen of the United States and who shall not, when elected, be an inhabitant of that state for which he shall be chosen.
That's really all there is.
Taking down George Allen could cost the Republicans the Senate. Nuff said. The fact that until now he has had, for a fairly conservative Republican, good relations with the Main Stream Media, just goes to prove that no Republican gets good press when the MSM thinks that they can advance their agenda by taking him out.
Are you paying atten Sen. McCain??? No, I didn't think so.
"Well, having studied the trends and the current impact of the war on Iraq and the economy, I think somebody will win and somebody will lose."
"Thank you, Mr. Sabato, may we quote you on that - again?"
Yes, I think the 1970's was a little late to run around a major American college campus spouting the N word with impunity.
Is this the same guy?
