"Log Cabin Republicans lobby specifically for "gay" rights. They are Republicans primarily to promote "gay" rights, not to promote the conservative agenda."

I would say that is a slight distortion of the Log Cabin Republicans. Painting with a broad brush I would say Log Cabin Republicans are typcilly more fiscally conservative while obviously more liberal when it comes to social issues. Of course promoting their lifestyles is part of being a politically active gay person. Would a politically active muslim, native american, christian, asian, etc. ever argue against their own belief system? In rare cases maybe but of course you are going to try and promote things which you think will benefit you. To say there are no aspects of the conservative agenda the log cabin republicans support is a bit of a stretch. To say they do not support the conservative social agenda would be closer to the truth.

The IMs are from 2005

He's in the HoR and THEREFORE is up for reelection every 2 years.

"Well, maybe the "kid" has some issues as well...so he needs help too??"

No doubt, but the "kid" is not a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.

"Foley shouldn't have resigned -- terrible move. They're coughing up stuff from '03 just prior to his '06 reelection bid? "

Oh, please...he shouldn't have resigned? He's a teenager-chasing creep. Of course he should have resigned. The question is not about that...the question is whether anything can be done to save this seat.

If you want to argue FOR him, then you're in the wrong place.

Whoever had these IMs in '03 was "smart enough" NOT to release them for the '04 election (as Foley wasn't up for reelection *THAT* year), but rather knew to alert the media (just) prior to his '06 reelection (for maximum effect).

He's in the House and is up for re-election every election cycle.

Ok..just got back from my cocktail with hubby...lol.
You got a point there..however..I get the impression that that XXXXXXXXX(the 'boy') knew exactly who he was talking to and Mr. Foley knew who he was talking to(or thought he did). I actually read a gay guy on one of the 'news' forums saying that it was not unusual that gay people have their first experience with older men(i know it's sick)..but he was acting like it was no big deal. We are going on a big assumption too..that what ABC reported about these PM's being from former 'pages' is true.

Many of the IMs go back to '03 (according to ABC).

Article 1

No person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the age of twenty five years, and been seven years a citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an inhabitant of that state in which he shall be chosen.
You don't have to live in the district just the state.

That's the only place he will be able to show his face....he might as well go. Course, I read that if he wants to continue his career...he should move to San Francisco...change to a Democrat... He'd be welcomed with open arms. LOL

Is there any way to get a new GOP candidate or start a write in campaign?

Only if the candidate was a Democrat in New Jersey.

House members are up for reelection EVERY two years? When did THIS happen? LOL. Every two years? That sounds like a huge pain! ...

"Shoot [glances at calendar hanging on wall in old corrugated shed]... time to change my oil [and campaign] again! ..."

Honestly, had no idea (thought it was every 4 years). I goofed.
