Got wine at the airport? It's harder to grab a cab
Mpls Star-Tribune ^ | 28 sep 06 | John Reinan

Posted on 09/29/2006 12:15:02 PM PDT by white trash redneck

When flight attendant Eva Buzek returned to Minneapolis from a trip to France, five taxi drivers refused to take her home from the airport. The reason? She had two bottles of wine in her suitcase -- and the drivers were Muslims, who don't drink and refuse to have alcohol in their taxis.

Disgusting dhimmitude.

Are other cabbies similarly allowed to transport Korans in their cabs?

Sounds like the cab driver was doing them a favor. Any driver that would do something like that is probably not someone whose cab you would want to get into.

If a muslim wanted a ride and was refused fare for whatever reason it would be called bigotry, racism etc. No hypocracy here.

"Now the airports commission has a solution: color-coding the lights on the taxi roofs to indicate whether a driver will accept a booze-toting fare."

Well at there's an up-side, now even non drinkers will be able to avoid muzzie taxi drivers.

Clearly this is against the law. The are offering a service to the public and can't legally discriminate against non-Muslims.

I'm sure the ACLU will file a suit against them.

What if a Southern Baptist cabbie in Atlanta refused to take a passenger that was carrying booze?

The ACLU would have him hauled into court.

Any cab company that would hire these nuts should be sued for discrimination. I suspect Jesse jackson will be standing at the cab stand with a bottle of Ripple and a lawyer.

From now on whenever I take a cab and have a Muslim driver I will wait until I get out of it to tell him he has just been an Apsotate. Does this mean they will also refuse to pick people up at a bar because they have been drinking?

I've been trying to figure out an effective response to this situation. I think that the best approach is to make a regulation that any cab with a Muslim driver who wants to discriminate against his fares should be clearly marked. And fares should have the right to refuse a so-marked cab at any time without explanation, with everyone (drivers and customers) fully informed of the rules. Then those of us who object to this nonsense can simply boycott the jihad jitneys, and let the marketplace decide. Imagine self-righteous Mohammed sitting at the head of the airport taxi-line with fare after fare laughing and pointing at him as they take their business to the infidel taxies who arrived to the queue after he did. Let Mo pull to the curb in a busy entertainment district on a hopping Saturday night and have the tipsy revelers wave him off and wait for a more ecumenical transportation experience. I'd bet ol' Mohahhed would get his turban straight soon enough after a bit of that.

If it's red wine and the bottle breaks, the clothes in the case would be ruined. I'd put it in a bag by itself.

Or, just spread the word, and every fare can refuse the cab on the grounds that 'I have wine in my bag.'

Exactly. If the things can get away with this, they can get away with refusing service to women with uncovered hair.

Wait till the things routinely refuse to stop for disabled people who use service dogs. Fjordman says that's already happening in his country. When the things offend against the ADA, they'll be slapped down entirely.

There is much wisdom in your words: Maybe, as a culture, this is what's wrong with these people.

Drinking promotes friendly interaction of separate classes and genders. It enables forgiveness and co-mingling. Had the Brits not been drinkers, I guess they would still be seething about the Romans.
