No doubt.

Why would they do this so close to the ground? They'd better check the bodies for hallucinagens.

You're one sick screw-head to post that, let alone think that.

Couldn't do much from the crown anyway - it's 'way too small in real life - tiny windows ( not like GhostBusters :-) ... but you could have a guy or two jostling on the walkway around the torch with Stingers. ( unless the rebuild screwed it up )

But sure, let's just change our way of life because we are afraid of the terrorists ... isn't that what they want ?

"I leave our previous statements to stand for themselves. I have nothing more to say to you."

But you ignored the important point ... If you don't get the weapons installed, do you STILL support the imposition of restrictions on law-abiding Americans ?

Never having seen the statue of liberty in real life it seemed bigger than that.

I agree with you about changing our lives because we are afraid of the terrorists.

I see our rights and freedoms being stripped from us little by little. I remember when I could drive down the freeway as fast as I wanted to (reasonable and prudent). I remember when it wasn't against the law not to wear seat belts. I remember when my friends could smoke in a bar and shoot pool. I remember when I could tell Pollock jokes and not be accused of being a racist. I can remember when I had never heard of hate speech (I had been taught to be polite though). I remember a time that it would have been OK to call the evil Muslims what they are and not have to use weasel words like Muslim fanatics. I can remember a time I could take a gun on an airliner. I can remember a time they didn't want to strip search my wife when we boarded an airliner. I don't fly commercially anymore. I can remember a time I didn't have to have a passport to travel. I can remember a time I was free to fly. I am not all that old :(

Cool, so if you don't get some teeth ... you sould not waste your effort fighting for restictions ...

( unless like the Dems you wish to incrementally withdraw our freedoms )

I was going to answer all that silly crap point by point, but why should I bother. Anyone making dumb arguments like that is obviously just doing it because they like annoying people. Such things were the reason I left FR for six months, and I think I'll leave again.

One last parting shot:

You have a very short memory. Yesterday's crash proves security would not stop a small plane flying in a highly populated area.

Security wouldn't have stopped that flight yesterday, because the flight was entirely legitimate right up to the point they got 1000 feet away from the buildings.

What yesterdays crash proves is that small airplanes make lousy terrorist weapons. Any explosive they could have carried would likely go off premature, or not at all, because the human detonator was smashed against the wall. They don't sell contact fuses at Walmart you know.

The terrorist weapon of choice is a truck. Read the headlines about Iraq. Your paranoia about airplanes is based on either ignorance about airplanes and physics, or just because you like to argue. I don't need either one.

See ya FR. Man50D just reminded me why I left the first time. I won't make this mistake a third time.

Hi,

While we don't know what their intent was, nor what they wanted to do, one thing has cleared up in at least my mind as a Pilot.

I went to the maps.google.com for the area, and then compared the crash site with the TAC (Terminal Area Chart) for NYC. Match up the Island (FDR) in the East River with 70th street, and 72nd street, and then compare the location to the TAC.

It appears they busted air space, as it looks to be 7000/SFC (Surface) for that area over the east River near LaGuardia. Unless they were in Contact with LGA Controllers, which is required within 6 miles of the airport below 2000'.

That may or may not account for the turn as maybe they realized they busted, or like others have said above were trying to get over to the Hudson.Who Knows.....

The TAC for NYC is in the Avsim file library, and is a 2004 edition.

The 7000/1100 appears to be for the Hudson river, and extends to about the shoreline for NYC, where SFC Then applies. The East River is clearly SFC at the point where they allegedly tried to make a Turn, and where the Crash occured.

That area of the River acts in many ways like a Shrinking Canyon, not a very smart place to be, and two California Pilots, flight instructor or not, apparently didn't plan their flight very well, regardless of what their intent was, their decision to fly up the East River is a contributing factor in at least my review of what has happened and what we know thus far.

Regards,
Joe

What a jerk! (The cartoonist, not you.)

Nobody knows just what caused the crash yet, or even if he was piloting the plane. Unbelievable but believable.

I haven't had time to read this whole thread. Has anyone mentioned the latest conspiracy theory I've heard which is:

10/11/06 flipped upside down reads:

9/11/01?
