Election may transform Bush presidency
The State/WP ^ | Oct. 22, 2006 | WP

If Democrats win one or both houses of Congress on Nov. 7, the result will transform the remainder of Bush’s time in office and dramatically shift the balance of power in Washington. Ending a dozen years basically passed in exile, congressional Democrats would have a chance to help steer the nation again — after a campaign spent mostly assailing Bush’s vision rather than detailing their own.

Emboldened by victory and bitter from grievance, Democrats could use their ascendance to block Bush’s agenda, force him to respond to theirs and begin a new era of aggressive oversight and investigation.

A Democratic victory, analysts in both parties said, could mean some of Bush’s tax cuts would not be renewed, attempts to revive his Social Security investment plan would be doomed and efforts to further broaden national security powers in the face of civil liberties concerns would be thwarted.

Most worrisome to the White House is the subpoena power Democrats would gain with a majority in the House or Senate. For years, Republicans have been mostly deferential in scrutinizing the Bush administration, but Democrats are eager to re-examine an array of issues, such as Vice President Dick Cheney’s energy task force, the Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal and preparations for the Iraq war.

If Democrats win one or both houses of Congress[...]

Oh, well, you see, this is how it works.. If Democrats are in power, the Republicans have to do what they want. If Republicans are in power, they have to do what Democrats want.

Whoopie. Same thing, different day. THAT should be explanation enough why Democrats should never be let back into power again - they never learn to work with others.

"Why you knuckleheads think you'll get a higher Republican turnout by taunting and insulting angry conservatives, I have no idea."

I don't understand where in this post is there anything that "taunts and insults" conservatives. Please point it out. Here is my post 1 that you were reacting to:

"THIS is what's at stake, not to mention the War on Terror.
I hope after reading the above you will all decide that this election is too important to sit out or engage in protest vote, helping the Dems take control of the country.

VOTE and VOTE Republican!"

Good grief!

Don't tell me you believe all the silly accusations that those levy against me, who keep promoting helping Angelides win?

Just look at all the posts here, that still advocate NOT voting for Republicans for one reason or another.

Ozzymandus summed it up very well.

"relentless and patronizing posts,"

Actually I consider the posts of those who still trying to get conservatives to sit out the election or vote third party that way, AND frustrating and annoying.

Why should you take offense, since you are not one of "them" and you see plenty of those posts as well.

I merely point out that people need to look at the big picture, the real consequences of their actions -- which may result in a disastrous Dem takeover of Congress.

Although the current crop of Republicans in both houses are probably the most worthless in the history of the republican party, I agree. The RATS have to be stopped.

I've made my calls and sent my emails to various memebers of congress, RNC and various other GOP groups letting them know conservatives aint happy!.....and I will again after the election. Some of the FR on our local board are so mad at the GOP/Bush they have even threatened to vote straight RAT or stay home.

I don't blame them a bit but I cannot just sit by and do nothing.

If the Republicans in congress do not grow a spine 08 will be a disaster conservative voters will not give them a second chance.

"Although the current crop of Republicans in both houses are probably the most worthless in the history of the republican party, I agree. The RATS have to be stopped. "

And I agree with YOUR general assessment.

As for those, claiming to be conservatives, but advocating staying home or voting RAT, I would take their credential with more than a few grains of salt.

"This effort targets grassroots conservatives known for their passionate views about issues who may be open to a grassroots voting rebellion. But the effort is being led, or at the very least aided, by liberals pretending to be grassroots conservatives, as opposed to actual grassroots conservatives themselves.

But the pretend-conservative act is being carried onto a whole new playing field, one that has become wildly influential over the past few years and one that does not stand to be instantly recognized as a fake. That playing field is the blogosphere, which is then used in conjunction with massive e-mailings to “spread the word” (as one e-mailer insisted I do to my readers/e-mail list) to other conservatives.

The concept is the same: the blog or e-mail claims, first, that the said writer has been a conservative for years and that they have “had it with Republicans.” They then point to an issue that conservatives would likely be upset about such as excessive spending, immigration, or the expansion of government. Their supposed rage over the issue has convinced them to either not show up to vote in 2006, or, in order to really show Republicans, vote for the Democrat instead. "

If, after the election, and the pubbies hold both houses but do not get with the program the rage from conservatives will be like thunder. Conservatives neex to let them know the day after the election. Win lose or draw.

I will let you in on a little secret of life. Just when you think that things cannot get worse, sure enough they will.

As a military family, we are not willing to let that happen by sending a message to the Republicans in this election.
There is way to much at stake to take that chance.

Pelosi-nomics
(Many thanks to my friend Dan Clifton over at the American Shareholders Association for painting such a clear economic picture here...)

“None of these tax cuts is affordable. None of them creates jobs, and they are not fair. All of them do damage to our long-term economic growth and contribute to the national deficit.” -House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA); May 09, 2003

Fact: 6.6 Million New Jobs

Fact: Unemployment Rate Drops From 6.3 Percent to 4.6 Percent

Fact: Unemployment Rate Dropping Faster Than CBO Expected

Fact: GDP Soars Following Tax Cut

Fact: Total Household Net Worth Has Increased by $14.4 Trillion Since the Tax Cut

Fact: The Deficit Has Declined $208 Billion Since April 2004 and $60 Billion Since the Tax Cut Was Signed Into Law

Ladies and gentlemen, it is still the greatest story never told...

Oh for sure. I am in no way saying that anyone should vote for a DemRat instead of a RINO, given only those two choices. But re: RINOs, I prefer to get them ALL out of office. But one step at a time. First priority, keep the DemRats out of power. Second, weed out the remaining RINOs.

___
"...but to replace them now with Dems is really cutting off our nose to spite our face."

I'm not forgetting that. And in many cases, the voters that vote for the Maverick McCains and other RINOs are made up of a lot of ""moderate"" liberals. Liberals that applaud McCain when he bashes Bush and curse him when he agrees with Bush. But one sure fire go-by I've always had is....if the liberals love someone, they're NOT a Republican, much less a conservative.
___
The trouble is, you and I see McCain as a national figure that we should get rid of, but if I remember right his numbers as a senator in Arizona are huge, sometimes we forget that a McCain or a Hillary can only be removed by their local voters, and in both cases the voters love them.

In the overall scheme of things...there is not that many military votes. Sure, there are some concentrated areas that have a lot of military....Plus, the demographics of the military is a lot of young folks who really don't care for politics...
