Skip to comments.FLASH: McCain Calls On Kerry To Apologize
Posted on 10/31/2006 8:59:29 AM PST by milwguy
Senator Kerry owes an apology to the many thousands of Americans serving in Iraq, who answered their country's call because they are patriots and not because of any deficiencies in their education. Americans from all backgrounds, well off and less fortunate, with high school diplomas and graduate degrees, take seriously their duty to our country, and risk their lives today to defend the rest of us in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere.
They all deserve our respect and deepest gratitude for their service. The suggestion that only the least educated Americans would agree to serve in the military and fight in Iraq, is an insult to every soldier serving in combat, and should deeply offend any American with an ounce of appreciation for what they suffer and risk so that the rest of us can sleep more comfortably at night. Without them, we wouldn't live in a country where people securely possess all their God-given rights, including the right to express insensitive, ill-considered and uninformed remarks.
Incredible. Just astounding.
He's deranged....or else a sure sign that he realizes just how deep he steped in it...
Glad you took my comment in the fun spirit it was intended!
Nevermind. You wanted a link to something else. :-)
"Without them, we wouldn't live in a country where people securely possess all their God-given rights, including the right to express insensitive, ill-considered and uninformed remarks."
I'm not a fan of McCain, but in this case he's spot on with that.
...John F'g Kerry served in Viet Nam.
I wasn't sure until I went out to www.johnkerry.com and checked press releases
It is absolutely astonishing and the Democrat strategists are probably going into a complete meltdown, because it is too close to the mid terms for a Democrat to make such a statement.
This statement is known as "defending the indefensible."
Has Fox mentioned it on TV yet?
The Kerry response is not satire. No one is making this excuse up. Visit Drugde or NRO.
Won't work.......Republican women are more like Lynn Cheney........Republican women are not victims........
Kerry is just misunderstood. He was against going with that comment before he agreed with that comment. See!
He is just going through the five stages:
DENIAL - Denying that's what he was saying.
ANGER - For being so stupid - there goes my 2nd chance at President (unfortunately this helps Hillary Rodham)
BARGAINING - What would a Clinton do? Maybe they'll (public) believe it's a right wing conspriacy.
DEPRESSION - "Oh NO! - the public's not buying it!
ACCEPTANCE - Some kind of Mickey Mouse apology so that he can always say he apologized.
Here's the link.
It's also on www.johnkerry.com under "press releases."
All right. Anger then, not tears. Either will suffice.
The point is to make hay while the sun shines.
Sorry, thought you were talking about videp.
Well said by one is more qualified than most of us. Thank you, Senator McCain
I don't necessarily agree with the Senator on most things but he's dead on in this one.
-if we do not grab the football (skerry's gaffe) and run to the end zone we are fools!
Senator Kerry, why are you "Swift Boating" our brave men and women in the militay?
Fearless prediction...look for Hillary to come out and repudiate Kerry's statemnt...and Irey should demand Murtha do so immediately
To believe his press release, it would assume that President Bush has not 'done well' I think most people would say that 'President' Bush has done better than 'Senator' Lurch and has risen to the top position in the greatest country on the face of the earth. How by any definition that is not 'doing well' is something only J f'n Kerry could dream up in his wacked out imagination. His press release is childish, and I think his disgraceful actions have caused more damage to our men and women serving overseas than Mark Foley's e-mails have to the House Pages..
At long last sir, have you no sense of decency. If you did, you would resign and fly off to one of your wife's
many estates on her jet, and disappear from the national stage forever.
That Kerry statement is further proof that Kerry can say nothing in 500 words or more.
That is nothing more than a non-apology apology that attempts to deflect attention to the Right.
How in Heaven's name does he hope that his "indignation" will dispute a VIDEO of his stupidity?!?! Incredible!
...if good men do nothing.
but it's only Tuesday...LOL
Not gonna happen from the DBM. They'll try ignoring it, and if it can't be ignored, they'll go out of their way to find military that happen to fit Kerry's depiction (there will be one or two). These will be paraded on TV - perhaps with some interviews of the family members (if the family members diss Bush, well, that's a bonus).
Using Kerry's logic, he himself is not a very bright person as he served in the military.
Using Kerry's logic, he himself is not a very bright person as he served in the military.
That sounds like a great idea. Someone on another thread said Kerry was suppose to come to Pa. and appear with Casey...I wonder if that will still happen. If it does, i'd like to atend (big, evil grin) I'll bet every Dem candidate is cancelling Kerry 'help" at this point.
will only work if we widely disseminate this affront to our military and demand by sheer force that the news media cover it.
already right now they are in full Kerry-protection mode, attempting to bury the story.
I am absolutely dumbfounded that he released such a childishly belligerent response. I thought for sure the original post was a satire!
IMHO....that makes it WORSE!!
That release was offensive, all on it's own!!
Exactly! In fact, Rush is predicting that the media--instead of chastizing Kerry, will go out and search for those few, poor and disenfranchised soldiers who are only serving because they can't get ahead in our society.
Instead of attacking Kerry as they would do any Republican, the liberals and their media brethren will concoct a story to help in Kerry's defense. Heck, they're doing this already, making Kerry a victim of the evil Republicans via his response.
Come to think of it, to use Kerry's logic that he was referring to the President and implying he had not done well, what does that say about Kerry, who lost the election to him?
I love the righteous indignation and Bill Clinton/Chris Wallace interview attitude that he has taken in his press release. It is so scripted and from the new Dem 'tough talk on defense' playbook it is almost funny, and makes him look even more foolish.
Im not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Foxs Parkinsons disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have.
The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor.
Lurch is a total POS. He can't help but refer to himself and his time in Vietnam - and yet, he doesn't wear it as a badge of Honor. Oh no, this *sshole uses it as a shield. He disgusts me to no end.
OK...that is the first mention on TV. Let's see who can spot another mention!
Live on Rush Limbaugh as I type.
Kerry is a traitor to the Viet Nam Veterans and now to the current veterans.
I am going to turn on Rush. We are on an hour delay so I will catch this in about an hour.
This creepy so-called Senator makes most military families want to vomit!
NOBODY is going to believe that "explanation". The only ones that will accept it, are the ones that agree with Kerry anyway.
Do you think that maybe Kerry just revved up the base? Maybe Rove slipped something into Kerry's drink to make him say something so stupid. Almost too late for October Surprise!!
Thanks to our double standard media.

As a veteran, the recent comments that John Kerry simply make my blood boil. The comments show the utter comtempt that Democrats like Kerry have for those who make the choice to serve their country and if Mr. Kerry was as informed as he claims to be he would know that at no time in history has the United States Military not only been the best trained, but the best educated and here are the facts. Facts: 1)A growing number of Non Commissioned Officers, Limited Duty Officers and Chief Warrant Officers have or are obtaining college degress while in uniform...
Everyone, especially military families, should write/call/email their local TV stations asking for coverage.
