Carl Cameron on FNC just said "did we just witness the Democrats doing another Welstone moment? ... snatching defeat from the jaws of victory?"

Good analysis.

Yeah, this from a guy who didn't have his "press conference" until it was too late for Rush to make comments. Wow, we're like sooooooo impressed... NOT.

I had a feeling it would be late, though timed for 2PM, in order to blunt the opportunity for Rush to make comments. Lurch even got that wrong, too.

I said in another place that these Democrats/Leftists rarely make me mad anymore. This is an exception. Kerry can Golf Foxtrot himself, and his entire party.

Every time he talks about those who didn't serve versus those who did, I'm reminded of three names: Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, Bob Dole. The one who DIDN'T serve was elected over the ones who certainly did.

Every time I hear about "afraid to debate REAL MEN", I think about an alleged "real man" who is afraid to debate a REAL WOMAN (Murtha/Irey).

Every time I hear attacks about how the President sent our troops to Iraq, I am reminded about the vote and the extra vote that was demanded by the party in control of the Senate in 2002, which echoed many of their statements from 1998 (for those in Rio Linda, that would be BEFORE Bush was president, and when BUBBA was facing impeachment). As I recall, the Flurchness Munster was one of those YEA votes from the majority party in power.

A majority that became a minority, not long after the Authorization vote, at which time their true nature emerged ("He betrayed this country!" "It's the wrong war at the wrong place at the wrong time!" "Week after week after week after week, we were told lie after lie after lie after lie!" "Iraq is George Bush's Vietnam!")

I could go on, but why bother? John Fing Kerry is not worth me getting Carpool Tunnel Syndrome.

Some of this "indignation" is tactical in my view. Just like Clinton's reaction in the Wallace interview. Kerry and the DNC know that stepped in it big time - and the only way out is to invigorate the base. It won't work - especially with the Veterans, McCain statements, etc. What a moron.

To paraphrase John's earlier response:

I was in Vietnam! Republicans are mean and are out to get me. I was in Vietnam!

Republicans should shut up. Tony Snow is a puppet. Rush Limbaugh is fat and was mean to Michael J. Fox. I was in Vietnam!

George Bush lied. So did Dick Cheney. Katrina bad. National Security Estimate bad. I was in Vietnam and Iraq bad.

Republicans are wimps. Afghanistan and Iraq bad.

Good stuff John.

In addition to giving the GOP yet another talking point, Kerry also managed to suck every molecule of oxygen away from Dem spinners the week before the election. Now, instead of being free to bash Bush and the pubbies, they will have to yell for days that Kerry was misquoted, this is mean GOP tactics, etc., etc. - and all their talking points they saved up for the last few days might as well get flushed down the crapper.

I think we just witnessed one of the great political meltdowns of all time.

I disagree.

One thing for sure...this was no press conference. It was a defiant statement that brought the entire media's focus on the tired charge that this administration is a failure.

He was come out of this unscathed, IMNSHO.

I think Kerry is delusional -- he has no idea how much he is loathed by 90% of current and former military people. He really thinks the whole Swift Boat Vets for Truth thing was a concoction by Karl Rove. He is vain and clueless, and still totally in love with himself.

Now people should understand why the Kerry campaign tried so hard to take down Rove with the Valerie Plame nonsense.

I read his quote and the explanation - there is no way he can avoid looking like an idiot. He either spoke from the cuff and just got it wrong or is too confused to follow his own speaking points. What he said and what he was 'supposed' to say were so far off that me thinks maybe he said what he was actually thinking.

Thank you John, Christmas in November.
