The bottom line is that Schiavo was an issue for the legislature, not the courts. But like so many other issues, the legislature is not doing its job, so the courts simply substitute their own judgment.

Still hoping and praying Crist will lose because of his failure to help Terri.

I vote none of the above.

The Terri Factor and the pro-life impetus behind it plays heavily in politics today.
Ping to a powerful thread started by Eternal Vigilance.
"You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16

The Terri Factor and Michael Schiavo...
On at least one issue, abortion, Lynch and Robinson switch sides politically. Robinson supports a woman's right to choose, while Lynch favors restrictions on abortion. Robinson has been endorsed by Michael Schiavo, whose wife was at the center of the right-to-life controversy in Florida. Lynch supported a measure in Congress intended to have the feeding tube of the then-comatose Terri Schiavo reinserted against her husband's wishes. The feeding tube was eventually withdrawn and Terri Schiavo died.
For 3 challengers, party's not over... Congressional long shots undaunted by Democrats' reign

I usually get flamed for saying this on FR; but I feel the same way about Jeb Bush and his potential aspirations for President, if he has any.

You have a warmer, more favorable opinion of St. Pete Slimes than do I.

bttt. Dick Armey is a fine (sarcasm tag) human being. Had he been in congress at the time, there's no doubt he would have voted for Terri's starvation death. He was on CNN last night talking about Terri.

All the candidates for guv at present were for Terri to be killed. Crist said Judge Greer and Judge Whittemore were heroes for killing Terri. It's easy to kill people who cannot defend themselves physically or in court. Terri never had due process. She was lynched.

Crist gives me the creeps. The tone of the whole article is that somehow having supported Terri's right to live and even to due process is a bad thing.

I agree. It would have been right and just to save Terri's life instead of going with the pack mentality. I'm independent now. Group thought is out for me, any and all groups. Campaign finance doesn't work. Fundraising builds the machines that lead to the pack mentality. It's outta control. Terri born 1963 and died a wrongful death in 2005.
I hope Terri is mentioned in every single election cycle. Let the cowards keep saying they were against her life. People need to get it someday, including the propagandist media.

I would have respect for Jeb if he'd called in the National Guard and said "I'm the executive branch and, together with the legislative branch, we are over-ruling the judicial and saving her life! Ok, so I'm just dreaming.

dante3, Crist was arrogant in the second debate the other night. It's been difficult to find polls post that debate. IMO, that means that undecideds who did watch the debate picked up the creep factor.
At one point when donations came up, Crist said "I've gotten money from a lot of people." It was all there, the smug look and the haughty, elitist tone in his voice.
Terri Schiavo was a kind hearted girl, not smug or haughty. She was lynched by the State of Florida and although all the evidence is hidden, it's no secret.
Shame.

Visit http://www.terrisfight.org/
Terri's parents and siblings continue to help others. There are new articles there about their lectures and calls to action.
