"A wife has no duty of fidelity to the former or late wife her husband, so a lack of such fidelity hardly disqualifies a woman from being called "wife"."

How about this. Is it possible that Jody supported Michael's efforts to kill his legal wife over the course of the years they lived together? Is that covered under the definition of fidelity?

fyi, not about Terri, but William Hammesfahr did an interesting show on Friday, 11/17, and you can hear the replay on healthytalkradio.com archives.

If you are interested, and need help accessing the show, send me a PM. The archive for this show will probably be there until next Thursday or Friday.

Make abundantly clear that the Republicans weren't trying to come between a husband and wife, but rather to protect a wife from a vindictive ex who refused to give up the reins.

I don't know how this thought process ever got to be written in stone, but at the time even Dems supported Terri along with a long list of other liberals outside of government. All I can say is that propaganda does work.

Against whom would Jodi's actions constitute infidelity? She never took any sort of oath to Terri.

Wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that she knew that the bum she eventually married took an oath to Terri long before he killed her?

Naturally, and her actions are morally reprehensible for that reason.

To use an analogy, suppose a corrupt housekeeper gives a thief a key to his client's house; the thief then uses the key to steal stuff. Has the thief betrayed anyone?

The thief was certainly aware of the housekeeper's betrayal, and may have even encouraged it, but the thief himself betrays no one. Betrayal requires, at minimum, an implicit claim of loyalty. A thief cannot betray someone to whom he has no real or implied loyalty in the first place.

The thief is a thief. Interesting.

Yes, the tired Kool Aid mantras had worked just as they did in Nazi Germany. Shout the lie long and loud and it registers as truth. Hopefully to some degree we and all who fight for Terri's Legacy are an antidote, to those who have ears.

Mikey's gods and masters have ggranted him the frail gift of perceived impunity. Clutching that gift, he has positioned himself in a role sure to bring about a repeat, as he seeks the thrill the gift brings.

Lacking the remorse of O.J. and the finesse of Ted Bundy, and having tasted the thrill at least one time in full and more times in lesser instances, the temptation will arise to overwhelm him again. Watch for nurse Mikey to strike again, maybe soon.

Talk flourishes about "Blue Dog" type dems settling into new seats. Could this be one of them, Casey?

Talk also flourishes with suggestions that the far left positioned the "conservative" dems to win the election and then be beholden to the likes of Nancy Pelosi. So far, that has been just talk, har.

The Terri Factor may tell us soon enough.

....................................

Senator-elect Bob Casey says he is outspoken about his religion, which is Catholic. We hope he lives by this in his political career. He has taken a position against abortion. However, prominent people who endorse abortion, the destruction of human embryos for their stem cells, and same-sex marriage campaigned for Mr. Casey.

One of his TV ads criticized Sen. Santorum for the senator's involvement with Terri Schiavo. Does this indicate a lack of concern for the severely handicapped? Let us hope and pray that Mr. Casey has the fortitude to vote and work for the protection of all human life from fertilization to natural death.

Casey should support all human life

Ping to a thread on Courage by Salvation...

"Thou shall not be judgmental" is one of the cardinal canons of political correctness. Political correctness, of course, has little regard for the principle of non-contradiction, and therefore allows people to judge certain individuals, precipitously and decisively, whenever it represents a political advantage.

Hypocrisy, as we have been told many times, is the tribute that vice pays to virtue. The various virtues — courage, compassion, generosity, and so on — still ring well in the secular ear. But the secular world’s interest in the meaning behind these positive sounding words is minimal. It is enamored with sparkle and apathetic about substance.

Courage

I recall being in finer restaurants where one could pick a trout from an aquarium and the staff would catch it and prepare it Trout au Bleu. Sounds almost like what one can do in China to order spare parts. Ping to wagglebee thread on the burgeoning industry.

Following years of denial, China has acknowledged that foreigners who can pay more than native Chinese have been given preference for organ transplants and that "donors" for the operation have often been executed prisoners.

WND reported in 2004 charges by the banned Falun Gong group – backed up by Chinese doctors and human rights experts – that the communist government was torturing prisoners, executing them and trafficking in their body parts.

Thanks, narses.

Thread from kiriath_jearim...

Can this be true? Daniel Ortega growing soft, turning to the Church? We fought against him in the mid-'80's. (Nicaruguan friends, who could never imagine him repenting...)

Abortion was a central issue for November's presidential election in mainly Roman Catholic Nicaragua.

President-elect Daniel Ortega once favoured abortion rights but changed stance after re-embracing Catholicism.

Mmm. "If a woman waits for a man to kill his wife so that she can marry him, she is stupider than a box of gravel."

{sarcasm warning}: Now, c'mon, this is perfectly sensible doctrine, don't you think? Suitable for a hundred modern points of view. Bumping off unwanted prisoners for spare parts could help solve everything from overpopulation, pollution and global warming to heart disease and Hepatitis C. John Edwards could be out there preaching that if we would just get over our silly scruples, Christopher Reeve would be walking by next week Thursday. It's a Brave New World out there. Get with the program. /sarcasm
