A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.

Feeling very patriotic today and to be honest, a bit anxious about the results of mid-term elections tonight. In light of that, the theme for today's thread is borrowed from a post a couple of weeks ago, by proud2beconservativeinNJ, who wrote:
"I would like to start a collection of Finest great flag shots so I could enjoy them all day long. So many are just darn beautiful."
I'll start with a few of mine and sprinkle more throughout the comments. Hopefully, the other host/hostesses will share some of their favorites, so be sure and check back often for more reasons to love our flag!

Three Certainties

READ: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory? —1 Corinthians 15:55

As I waited outside the Intensive Care Unit for changes in the condition of a loved one, I was reminded that death affects all of us: old and young, male and female, rich and poor.

In 1 Thessalonians 4, the apostle Paul comforted those who mourned the death of their loved ones. He told them that excessive grief resulted from being uninformed. Weeping for our loss is good, but we need not weep like those who have no hope. Instead, we must rely on three certainties of death.

The first certainty is that the soul does not die. The souls of departed believers are with the Lord (v.14). They have retired from this problematic world, and they “sleep in Jesus.”

Second, Jesus will come for every believer. Whether a Christian is alive on earth or asleep in death, Jesus will return for all His children (vv.16-17).

Third, there will be a joyous reunion. “Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord” (v.17).

Knowing these certainties brings comfort to believers when their friends and loved ones depart. Although we are separated from them for a while, we will meet again in the presence of our Lord. Albert Lee

I did what I could and voted this morning. I'm in NY so I doubt we'll win one for the Gipper here. I can always hope and pray and never give up. :)

Me too. I'm praying for some miracles in races I've been watching here.

I'm losing my mind lately ;) Do I remember this correct? Bush's first term mid-term elections, they predicted many loses as well and we won seats? I recall feeling of celebration for that next day.

Historically the "in" party loses at mid term elections and that one made history! LOTS of celebrating going on.I do not recall the pollsters' predictions exactly.

Only time will tell, there was already 160 people that cast their vote when the Mrs and I voted.

In a district that is 3 to 1 dem, I can only hope and Pray for a victory on Grand Island my home town.

I got to thinking about this last night after posting that graphic(#9).. I've posted in the past that "The Oath" we swore when we entered the military has no expiration date. But after reading the Pledge of Allegiance a few times, and reflecting on the words, I've come to the conclusion that the dems have attached an expiration date to our beloved Pledge of Allegiance the minute they aligned themselves with those who would bring harm to this great nation.
