Yes, that seems to be the predominant thought pattern from those not living in Virginia.
Blacks used to say that because of prejudice, they had to be twice as good as any white person they were competing against. The same is true today of Republicans and the media. Allen needed to assume that he was starting at a deficit in the media, and that one little word probably cost him the votes he needed to put it over the top.
I was embarrassed for him when it happened, but I knew what the media would do to him over it. I voted for him anyway, but I knew then that he had lost the edge he needed.

We lost Allen in a year where the GOP lost NATIONWIDE.
But we won on the Marriage Amendment and we kept our 8 GOP Congressmen.
We didn't lose the House because of Virginia.
Are you suggesting we take up arms against Northern Virginia?
It's a little extreme, but let me ponder on it for a bit.
Just give me five minutes' warning to get my family into the basement.

Well, if it helps, Webb got an "A" from the NRA.
Like I said earlier (maybe even on another thread?). When they wake up from their hangover, the RATS aren't going to like Senator Webb any more than we will.

Oh, don't get me wrong. Webb will end up not being the gunowners friend.
But I also think he's enough of a hothead to piss off the RATS before this is over.
And that is about the only silver lining...........
Although I give him credit, he mostly kept his temper in check after he won the primary. Of course, it helped having the media running interference for him.
1) Start re-counting
2) Keep counting and re-counting until you are ahead.
3) Stop counting and declare victory.

Wrong. Webb got his A from the NRA based on his rhetoric. He has no record.
The advantage we have is that Webb is a jerk. Nobody will be happy with him.
No kidding. It's been disheartening to say the least to see how many supposed Republican busybodies outside of Virginia have been bashing the man, both before the election and now.
