The novel had nothing to do with it.

This is a disaster. Allen has shown himself to be an almost complete bozo. The only upside is he's definitely hors d'combat for 2008.

I don't think it was Webb's book. It was the 24/7 negative coverage and distortion of Iraq by the MSM that is giving us so much trouble tonight.

So, they have been counted and it's a done deal.

Negative... No more recounts or lawsuits. We lost because our candidates sucked. Not a freakin one of them was able to frame the debate and make it about the issues.

The GOP in Virginia is broken. Both Allen this year and Kilgore last year had the worst campaigns. I thought it was a fluke with Kilgore (and a weak candidate) but this makes me think there's bigger issues.

As losers tonight go, I'll take Santorum over Allen any day of the week and twice on Sunday. However, this night cements a RINO in our future as a nominee. Rudy's the guy in 08.

Allen has as much chance of becoming President now as Jessica Alba.

That is highly unsusual. MOST places allow absentees to be RECEIVED until midnight, election night, then they start counting.

There's always Romney. Or the RINO's like Guiliani and McLame, who might actually win.

How anyone could see Allen as a viable presidential candidate when he can't even win in the state in which he was governor is beyond me.

A. The VA Secretary of State didn't post those numbers.

B. Absentees were not counted.

C. Various precincts were not accounted for, one of which was my son's. His right to vote has now been violated and he's pursuing legal recourse tomorrow.

Agreed. Top to bottom. They have had their chance, and have been found wanting.

I think the Republicans played not to loss, rather than played to win, and in life as it is in sports, playing not to lose is the surest way to lose.
