Get real. My Soldiers duct taped me to a table (after flex-cuffing me since I kept breaking the tape on my wrists). I'm an officer and they're enlisted, so that's technically "inappropriate." Guess I should've put them in for court martials, right?

I'm sure I would feel left out if I were in a group and they felt they had to treat me different. Thank you for your service to our country, btw and belated happy Vetrans Day.

McCain just now went for prez. He said he had to huddle with his family and make sure they did not break any laws. If I'm lying then I 'm dying.

This was innocent fun. When you're under constant stress and pressure, it's only natural to try to ease the tension by having fun. The female soldier doesn't look like she minded one bit. If anything, the fact that they playfully teased her this way shows to me that she is highly thought of. The guys wouldn't have even bothered with her if she wasn't considered part of the group and well liked. I know, because I'm a female who worked in a mostly male environment. As a Sergeant, I looked out for the officers under my supervision. There was a mutual respect between us, and I can proudly say that most of the male officers I worked with had told me they'd rather work with me than with my male counterparts.

Where I worked (uniformed staff, NY State Prison system), it was standard practice to "get" the new guy or girl, whether they were officer or supervisor. One learned NEVER to leave your uniform hat laying around. Inevitably, someone would hide it on you, or they would put red or black felt tip marker on the rim inside, so that when you wore it, the ink would rub off on your forehead and you'd end up with a ring there. You wouldn't know it until you either looked in the mirror or someone told you. I did it to a Captain once. Thank God I've retired, but I doubt he ever found out who had done it. Another item you never laid down was your sunglasses. They'd do the same thing...put black felt tip marker on the rims and bridge, and when you'd put them on, the ink would rub off on your face and you'd have black lines on your cheeks and on the bridge of your nose. How you reacted to these practical jokes told them what type of person you were. If you got mad and huffy, you probably weren't anyone they wanted around, but if you took it like it was meant, as a joke, then they welcomed you into the fold. It was a kind of hazing routine. I remember once when a new Sergeant made the mistake of leaving his briefcase and hat in the Rover's office of the building he was in charge of. The officers took them and duct taped them to the ceiling in that office. It took the Sergeant all night to find his stuff.

Thank you and I thank you back for being a teacher! WE NEED YOU!

I never felt left out and I was not treated any different than you are treated by your male coworkers or friends. The military camaraderie and fellowship overrides race, sex, religion or national origin. There is no PC foolishness but the importance of the mission and the understanding that victory can be only obtained only when acting as an unit. I wish the same belief can be transplanted into civilian life where everyone understands that our success as a nation can only be attained as AMERICANS, no hyphenation!

Oh please. Give it a rest. This sort of thing is completely harmless and happens all the time, especially on deployments.

I guess this is the next abu Ghrab? Or however the heck you spell the overblown, overshown prison video that helped win the left the House & Senate. I guess the GIs got the news of the elections and said "What the hell? We won't be here much longer now...may as well play grab-ass before the terrorists start shooting their guns in glee!"

Agree! BTW my Dad was a lifer (Air Force) so I my early life was on military bases. Back in the early 60s I had kids of all races and ethnicities in my classes at school. I was surprised when he retired and we went to civilian schools and they were just starting to integrate. In the military it was a way of life.

Let's hear from the gal and the guys on this tape before making comments. I believe we will find that this is some kind of initiation ceremony, for a promotion or some other accomplishment by the young lady.

I am sure the guys go through the same rite at one time or another.

Their faces are fully exposed, their unit must surely be known, or could be determined very easily. There is no reason to guess, let's hear from the participants themselves.

If you turn your monitor off and just listen to the sounds, you will hear this woman say "NO" several times and you can hear the distress in her voice.

Then, when you turn your monitor on and watch the activity around the incident, you will see soldiers walk up, watch and listen to her cries for a few seconds, then put their heads down and rush away. Did they know whether or not she needed their assistance before they left?

I find this video quite disturbing.
