My sentiments exactly!

I hate to say it but Bush is getting on my nerves since the election. I think this is a poor pick because we need someone in the office with energy and charisma.

Didn't like Gates nomination, don't like this one, don't like the new tone crap and what's next?

How can he name a sitting Senator to head this knowing we have a Presidential election coming up that requires a full time RNC Chair. I am beginning to think that the loses in this election don't bother him and he doesn't care if we win in 2008. But then his Dad is now good friends with Bill Clinton it seems. I refrained from posting a lot in the last six months on here because I have not been a happy camper with the Administration but if he is recommending this person to head RNC, then I am not sitting back at all.

Please write your National Committee man and woman and demand they vote against this nomination. He cannot be approved without the support of the National Committee. Also write your Congressmen and two Senators who also could have an influence.

Steele said the other day on FOX that the decision was one the President as the head of the party makes, that if he wanted him to serve he would be pleased.... guess the President had ideas 180 from many of us.

Okay, this is the best email address I could find from the GOP website. If anyone else knows a better address, PLEASE post it. We really need to let Republicans know what we think about this.

Consider this one, though ... Mel resigns his seat to head the RNC and JEB APPOINTS KATHERINE HARRIS as his replacement!!! (Nah, I think there would need to be a special election and we all know how deep the bench is when it comes to republican Senatorial candidates in Florida.) Is this the day my W Oval comes off the car???

Well, at least he's not being mentioned as a possible Supreme Court nominee again. Of course at the rate things are going the next Supreme Court nominee will be Lynne Stewart.

Time to start telling conservatives to fund Club For Growth and their conservative candidates and never give money to the RNC. They can't be trusted with our money.

He has to be approved by a vote of the Republican National Committee. Each state elects a National Committee man and woman, I believe the State GOP Chair sits on the committee, and if it is like the State GOP's, the elected national officials also sit on the Committee. It takes a majority vote of the committee to approve the President's recommendation.

I will go check to see if there are others who sit on the Committee but we need to start right now with an effort to derail this nomination. We need a full time RNC Chair IMO!

Bob Dole was a U.S. senator and the RNC chairman, 1973-'74.

Here's why old Mel got the White House nod....

Voted in favor of bill to increase immigration and grant amnesty to illegal aliens in 2006.

Sen. Martinez voted in favor of final passage of S. 2611, the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2006. S. 2611 would dramatically change most occupations and communities in America with the largest movement of foreign workers in world history. Specifically, S. 2611 would: reward approximately 10.2 million illegal aliens with an amnesty allowing them to permanently take American jobs and become U.S. citizens; double legal immigration from 1 million to 2 million a year; give out permanent green cards to up to 66 million foreign workers and dependents over the next 20 years. The main difference in terms of numbers between the final version of S. 2611 and the version of the bill when the cloture motion was invoked was that the Bingaman Amendment to cap the number of employment-based visas for workers, spouses and children at 650,000 was adopted after cloture but before final passage. Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation estimates that the Bingaman Amendment would reduce employment-based visas available under S. 2611 by about 150,000 a year. S. 2611 passed by a vote of 62 to 36.

It's almost like the Pubbie leadership is completely unwilling to take politics seriously. They would rather keep the old guard in a minority role than bring in new blood to take back control.

I'm still ticked off that the RNC refused to give Graf any money because he didn't walk the party line on immigration. He could have won with funding.
